    Fumes in Cockpit Force KLM’s Flight to Land in Emergency

    KLMA KLM Airline Boeing 737 had to make an emergency landing at Norwich International Airport, Norfolk, United Kingdom, at about 2:37 p.m. on Tuesday, May 13.

    A KLM spokesperson confirmed that the plane en route from Manchester to Amsterdam landed in emergency after fumes were discovered in the cockpit.

    Full emergency protocol was deployed at the airport when the plane carrying 114 passengers touched down. All the passengers and crew members were safely evacuated.

    The aircraft was taken for examination and repair.

    Ikar Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Haikou Airport, China

    IkarIkar airlines flight IK-2474 had to make an emergency landing at Haikou airport, China on June 18.

    The incident happened when the Boeing-767-300 was en route from Thailand to Yekaterinburg, located in the Russian Urals.

    According to authorities, the decision to make an emergency landing was due to a power generator malfunction. The plane landed safely, with a delay of 3 hours from its scheduled landing time of 1:40 a.m. No one was hurt.

    Gennady Chuprov, the airline’s Deputy Director General for flight safety, said that 231 passengers were accommodated at a Wuhan city hotel.

    UA Ft Lauderdale-Cleveland Slips off Runway

    On Feb 22, 2013 at 10:45 a.m., a United Airlines Boeing 737 from Fort Lauderdale to Cleveland had landed and was taxiing when it suffered a runway excursion on landing on a slippery runway.

    The plane ran off the runway in slippery winter weather and ended up on soft ground in the grass.

    The Airport said the passengers disembarked without injury and were bussed to the gate.

    The plane sustained some undetermined damage.

    Cracked Window Prompts Thai Airways Flight to Make Emergency Landing at Bali

    ThaiThai Airways flight TG467 en-route from Sydney, Australia to Bangkok, Thailand, made an emergency landing at Bali’s Ngurah Rai International Airport in Indonesia, at 4:50 p.m. on August 12.

    The emergency landing was made after a crack was noticed in the cockpit window of the Boeing 747 which had 273 passengers and 21 crew members aboard at the time.

    The pilot, Ivtas Dejkunjorn, safely landed the plane and no one was hurt.

    An airport spokeswoman said, “Passengers have already been cleared through immigration and have been put up in hotels near the airport for the night.”

    Thai Airways said that they are sending a team to Bali to investigate the incident and for overseeing the replacement of cracked window.

    Aeroflot Flight Returns to Moscow due to Engine Vibrations

    Aeroflot flight SU-1510 had to return and make an emergency landing in Moscow, Russia, on December 27th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Surgut, Russia, but had to return shortly afterwards due to engine vibrations.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Heraklion, Greece, to Leeds, England, was diverted due to a flaps problem.
