    Cargo Flight lost in Lagoon in San Juan, Puerto Rico

    What: Jet One Express Convair CV-340 en route from San Juan to St. Maarten
    Where: San Juan
    When: Mar 15th 2012
    Who: 2 crew
    Why: On takeoff, the Corvair developed engine trouble. They consulted with ATC and decided to return to the airport but instead ended up in the La Torrecilla Lagoon. Witnesses saw the plane trailing smoke as it approached.

    The pilot and copilot died on impact. The flight has been confirmed as flight 440 to Luis Munoz Marin International Airport. It was a cargo flight with only two crew aboard.

    Divers are working to retrieve the bodies from the underwater wreckage. No names have been released.

    Jet One has an office in Boca Raton Florida since Thursday, June 15, 2000 in the state of Florida when it filed as a Domestic for Profit Corporation.

    Aer Lingus Airbus Overnight in Santiago de Compostela

    What: Aer Lingus Airbus A320-200 en route from Dublin to Fuerteventura Spain
    Where: Santiago de Compostela
    When: Nov 15th 2011
    Who: 147 passengers
    Why: While en route the plane developed a problem, and diverted to Santiago to make a safe landing.

    Passengers stayed in hotels overnight, until the curfew lifted and they were able to take off.

    Swiss Plane Diverts to Vienna due to Engine Problem

    swissairSwiss International Air Lines flight LX-178 made an emergency landing in Vienna, Austria, on November 22.

    The Airbus A340-300 plane, en-route from Zurich, Switzerland, to Singapore, was diverted after one of its engines malfunctioned.

    The plane landed safely in Vienna after dumping off extra fuel.

    Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    XL Airways Boeing Smoked out at Cologne-Bonn airport

    What: XL Airways en route through Boeing 737-800 from Hanover to Bonn
    Where: Cologne-Bonn airport
    When: Sept 3 2012
    Who: 186 passengers, 6 crew
    Why: An XL Airways plane at Bonn was evacuated when smoke filled the cabin. Seven passengers were treated on the scene and eleven in all were injured. Some passengers described an odor like kerosene.

    Passengers disembarked via the stairway on to the tarmac with emergency services on standby.

    In 2008, the same plane had an engine problem forcing an emergency landing.

    Air India Emergency Landing in Bhopal

    What: Air India Airbus A319-100 en route from Bhopal to Indore
    Where: Bhopal
    When: Oct 19th 2011
    Who: 70 passengers
    Why: The Air India flight took off normally but once in the air developed a hydraulic failure.

    The flight returned to the airport and made a safe landing after being in the air for a quarter of an hour.

    Passengers were booked on alternative flights.

    Update: Japan Air Commuter Lands on One Engine

    What: Japan Air Commuter de Havilland Dash 8-400 en route from Tanegashima to Kagoshima
    Where: Kagoshima
    When: Mar 25th 2009 10:26 a.m
    Who: 42 passengers
    Why: When the left hand engine’s oil pressure dropped, the pilot shut down the engine and continued on to Kagoshima. Maintenance crews discovered significant damage in the engine. There were no injuries reported.

    This was also reported as a Bombardier Inc. DHC-8-Q400. The Bombardier Dash 8 was formerly known as the de Havilland Canada Dash 8; Bombardier acquired de Havilland Canada (DHC) .

    Due to the engine damage found by maintenance crews, two investigators rated this as a serious incident. The gearbox of the engine had failed and several turbine blades were found to be damaged
