Wizz Air flight W6-1011 made an emergency landing in Liverpool, England, on September 7th.
The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Katowice, Poland, was on final approach to Liverpool when the crew requested emergency assistance, reporting that a smartphone in the cabin had started emitting smoke.
The crew secured the phone while the plane continued for a safe landing. All passengers and crew members remained safe.
Horizon Air flight QX-2399 had to divert for an emergency landing in Yakima, Washington, on May 29th.
The plane heading from Boise, Idaho, to Seattle, Washington, was diverted after the crew noticed an electrical burning odor on-board.
The plane landed safely. All 82 people aboard remained unharmed.
Southwest Airlines flight WN-511 had to return and make an emergency landing at McCarran International Airport, Las Vegas, Nevada on June 8th.
The Boeing 737-800, flying to Saint Louis, Missouri, had to return after the crew suspected its tyre had blown and something struck on its tail.
The plane landed safely.
No injuries were reported.

Why: After taking off 6 hours late after ground stops due to the weather, after five minutes in flight, smoke in the cabin forced the pilots to divert to Logan Airport. Emergency was declared due to “smoke in the lavatory.” In the meantime, passengers were covering their faces because of the smoke. A leak, mechanical problem and possible fire was reported on the Continental flight and speculation is that de-icing fluid had infiltrated the engine, causing burn-off.
The plane landed safely at Logan, with emergency crews on standby.
37 passengers boarded another plane around 3 pm to continue to their destination.
Lufthansa flight LH-8365 had to return and make an emergency landing in Hyderabad, India, on March 30th.
The plane took off for Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported smoke in the cockpit.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

What: Brit Air/Air France Canadair CRJ-100 en route from Paris Orly to Rodez

Who: 22 passengers
Why: After takeoff, the left engine made several explosive noises, and the plane vibrated. The crew turned the plane around and landed safely at Orly. Passengers were rebooked, provided accommodations and further delayed by snow.
Nepal Airlines flight RA-218 had to return and make an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, India, on September 11th.
The plane took off for Kathmandu, Nepal, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a wing flap malfunction.
The plane landed safely. All 160 people aboard remained unharmed.
