    Daallo Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing after Explosion Blew Hole in the Fuselage

    DaalloDaallo Airlines flight D3159 had to return and make an emergency landing in Mogadishu, Somalia, on February 2nd.

    The Airbus A321 plane took off for Djibouti, but had to return shortly afterwards after an explosion sparked fire and blew a hole in the fuselage.

    The plane landed back uneventfully. There were 74 passengers and crew members aboard at the time; two of them sustained minor injuries.

    The incident is under investigation.

    Air India Plane Makes Emergency Landing in India due to Hydraulic Failure

    air indiaAir India domestic flight AI-405 made an emergency landing at Indira Gandhi International Airport in New Delhi, India, on September 7.

    The Airbus A320-200, en-route to Delhi, from Varanasi, had to be landed in emergency due to hydraulic failure, leading to heavy smoke.

    The plane landed safely.

    Five among the 146 passengers and 6 crew members sustained minor injuries as they were evacuated through slides.

    Who: 245 passengers, Eighteen people injured (227 passengers 18 crew)
    Why: While en route, the plane encountered turbulence. Several people were injured. The figure was originally released as 20 injuries and later rounded down to 18. One person suffered a broken leg.

    A passenger was quoted saying that the plane…” jolted vehemently over Alaska twice or so about seven hours before its arrival. Many passengers were tossed from their seats, bumping into the ceiling.”

    After encountering turbulence over Alaska, the flight continued on to land at Narita.

    Single-Engine Plane Crashes in Mojave Desert, CA

    small planeA single engine plane crashed into El Mirage Dry Lake in Adelanto, Mojave Desert, California.

    According to Tracey Martinez, spokesperson of the San Bernardino County Fire Department, the two-seater plane crashed into the dry lake bed at about 11:30 a.m. on June 9. She also said that the plane flipped several times before coming to rest.

    Brian Lee, a 47-year-old Los Angeles Fire Department pilot and firefighter paramedic, died at the hospital. A boy believed to be under 10 years old, was injured and was airlifted to the hospital in critical condition.

    The aircraft also sustained serious damage.

    The cause of accident is under investigation.

    Nordstar Compression Alert over Open Door

    A Nordstar Airlines emergency landing at Krasnoyarsk occurred after a cabin decompression alarm indicated problems aboard the Krasnoyarsk to Norilsk flight.

    Pilots returned the Boeing 737 to Krasnoyarsk and made a safe landing at 6:26. An inspection revealed that a door had not been properly closed. The open door was unable to maintain cabin compression adequately, although the door itself was in working order.

    No one was injured. Nordstar Airlines is now reviewing its procedures and local officials are opening an inquiry.

    4 Crew Members Injured as Air France Plane Faces Severe Turbulence

    Air FranceAir France flight AF006 had to return to the Charles de Gaulle airport, France, on the afternoon of November 4.

    The flight, heading to New York’s JFK airport, was turned back after 4 crew members got injured midair due to severe turbulence. According to a statement released by Air France, the aircraft faced bad weather during the initial cruise phase.

    The Airbus A380 superjumbo aircraft landed uneventfully and medical aid was provided immediately to the injured crew members.

    All the passengers remained unharmed.
