The landing is being described as “near-perfect emergency landing ” and “best possible outcome” in spite of the fact that the Cessna’s undercarriage would not lower. Small Plane Crashes at Laredo International Airport; 3 Dead
A small plane crashed at Laredo International Airport, Texas, on March 8th.
The pilot had reported smoke coming from an engine and was attempting to land back at the airport when the plane went down.
All three people aboard were killed in the crash.
The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

Who: pilot and student aboard, 2 fatalities
Why: A local pilot reported that the ultralight crashed, looking as if it came straight down and smashed up. The wreckage was found in a paddock in a field. No one witnessed the crash, but at 10:00 someone witnessed the chopper being buffeted by “gale force” winds.The flight was discovered after it failed to return to the airport to pick up the next student.
The wreckage is in several pieces. The gyrocopter broke up on impact. It had normally been used for training exercises. The Mangalore airport is in Australia.

ACT Airlines | Boeing | CrashAt Least 32 Killed as Cargo Plane Crashes in Kyrgyzstan

A Boeing 747-400 cargo plane crashed in a village near Manas International Airport, Kyrgyzstan, on January 16th.
The ACT Airlines plane was scheduled to land at the airport when it went down in the village of Dacha-Suu.
At least 32 people were killed in the crash, including 4 crew members and 28 people on the ground. Several others were injured.
At least 15 homes were destroyed in the incident.
The plane had departed from Hong Kong, China, and was scheduled to fly to Istanbul, Turkey, after a stopover in Kyrgyzstan.

What: Mi-24 “Hind” (combat) Helicopter on a training flight from a Saratov region aircraft factory.
Where: 700 kilometers (450 miles) southeast of Moscow near the Pugachov aerodrome
When: just before noon (0900 GMT) Tuesday.
Who: 3 people aboard were killed
Why: The flight data recorders have been recovered and are being used in the investigation.
