    PAWA Dominicana Airlines Flight Returns to Puerto Rico after Engine Failure

    pawa-dominicanaPAWA Dominicana Airlines flight 7N-750 had to return and make an emergency landing in San Juan, Puerto Rico, on December 9th.

    The plane took off for Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic, but had to return shortly afterwards due to failure of left engine.

    The plane landed safely. There were 112 people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    Helicopter Crashes in Baltic, One Survivor

    A Deutsche Rettungsflugwacht-operated MBB BK 117C-1 helicopter training out of Güttin airfield on Rügen island fell from the sky.

    The German Martime Search and Rescue Service was on a training mission in Christoph Offshore 2 chopper when the helicopter lost altitude and fell into the Baltic. Two pilots and two passengers, a doctor and a rescue assistant, were aboard.

    Both of the pilots were rescued, but one died shortly afterwards. The second pilot is suffering from hypothermia. Overnight, divers flew aboard a helicopter to the crash site and retrieved the doctor and rescue assistant’s bodies from inside the helicopter.

    Several vessels were involved in the rescue, as well as air support.

    The helicopter was stationed on Rügen for energy companies with wind turbines in the Baltic Sea.

    The MBB BK 112 is a joint development between Messerschmitt-Bölkow-Blohm (MBB) of Germany and Kawasaki of Japan.

    JetBlue Flight Diverts to Orlando After Bird Strike

    JetBlue flight B6-897 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Orlando, Florida, on April 1st.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Boston, Massachusetts, to Liberia, Costa Rica, was diverted due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Cessna Crash Unresolved

    What: Twin engine Cessna en route from New Orleans to McComb Mississippi
    Where: McComb Mississippi
    When: April 10 2011 4:07 am
    Who: 2 women, one man
    Why: The plane struck trees before hitting the ground four miles from the airport. Witnesses reported an explosion and flames. Dr. Taylor Pickett and Laura Pickett, and Jacqueline Ham were killed in the crash. They were returning from Louisiana where they saw a friend perform music in New Orleans. The crash is under investigation. The deceased leave behind four children.

    EasyJet Flight Diverts to Lyon due to Smoke in Cockpit

    EasyJet flight U2-8943 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Lyon, France, on January 6th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Gatwick Airport, England, to Grenoble, France, was diverted due to smoke in the cockpit.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and seventy passengers and five crew members remained unharmed.

    Ultralight Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Florida

    An Ultralight plane made an emergency landing in a field near 1991 West Plymouth Avenue, Florida, on the morning of July 29.

    The single-engine plane, with 2 people aboard, had to land in emergency after it lost fuel pressure.

    The pilot, identified as Patrick O’Brien, and his passenger remained unhurt. The aircraft sustained minor damage.
