    Small Plane Crash-Lands in San Luis Obispo County

    small planeA small plane crash landed on a private property near Gifford Ranch Road, south of Highway 166 in San Luis Obispo County, California, on January 16.

    The authorities said the pilot reported engine troubles and informed San Luis Obispo Airport authorities that he would try to make an emergency landing at Highway 166. However, the communication was then disrupted and the plane was found in an upside down position in a riverbed near the highway.

    There were 2 people aboard the plane at the time of incident; both of them remained uninjured. They were identified as the pilot John Charles Butler, 76, of Phoenix, Arizona and his passenger Pamela Butler Zirion, 67, of San Luis Obispo.

    The FAA and the NTSB are investigating.

    A Southwest Flight Halted due to threats.

    Two Southwest flights were grounded after bomb threats were made Tuesday evening.

    Southwest Flight (7:30 p.m. flight 1184) was isolated at Sky Harbor Airport. Passengers were re-screened.

    Southwest Flight (8:30 p.m. flight 811) at John Wayne Airport was also isolated after a bomb threat.

    Nothing was found when the plane was searched. No one was injured.

    The Joint Terrorism Task Force is investigating.

    Turkish Airlines Plane Overruns Runway at Henri Coanda International Airport

    Turkish Airlines flight TK-1045 overran runway while landing at Henri Coanda International Airport, Romania, on June 22nd.

    The incident happened when the Airbus A321-200 plane was coming from Istanbul, Turkey.

    There were one hundred and seventy-six people aboard at the time; none of them were injured.

    Airbus Cabin Pressure Causes Flight Diversion

    What: Hong Kong Airlines Airbus A330-200 en route from Hong Kong to Beijing
    Where: Changsa
    When: Mar 9th 2012
    Why: While en route, the flight developed a loss of cabin pressure.

    Oxygen masks were deployed.

    Pilots diverted to Changsa where they made a safe landing.

    Ryanair Bird Strike

    What: Ryanair Boeing 737-800 en route from Alghero to Parma
    Where: Alghero
    When: Dec 18th 2009
    Who: 80 passengers
    Why: On takeoff, the plane suffered a bird-strike. The flight returned to the airport and made a safe landing. Passengers debarked and were provided an alternative jet two hours later.

    First Officer Attacked by Stairway


    What: Virgin Australia/Pacific Blue Boeing 737-800 en route from Brisbane,QL to Denpasar Bali
    Where: Brisbane
    When: Oct 14th 2011
    Who: 1st officer
    Why: The plane was in its parking bay as the first officer was inspecting the plane prior to departure, when the exhaust of a departing Qantas jet blew the mobile stairs, including the first officer, over. Both stairs and pilot ended up on the tarmac, the first officer ending up with a broken arm and leg. The plane was in its parking bay. The pilot departed for the hospital, presumably by ambulance, and the plane departed for Bali, with only a 90 minute delay.

    I don’t think I’ve ever heard of this happening!
