A Turkish Airlines flight made an emergency landing in Zahedan, Iran, on February 4th.
The Airbus A330-300 plane heading from Istanbul, Turkey, to Vietnam was diverted after a passenger fell ill.
The plane landed safely. The patient was rushed to a hospital.
Thomson Airways flight BY-6133 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Porto, Portugal, on April 17th.
The Boeing 757-200 plane heading from Las Palmas, Spain, to Bristol, England, was diverted due to a cracked windshield.
The plane landed safely. All 220 people aboard remained unharmed.
Virgin Australia flight VA-474 had to return and make an emergency landing in Brisbane, Australia, on June 4th.
The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Perth, Australia, but suffered a bird strike during departure.
The crew subsequently landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
A small plane crashed on Route 1 in Cave-in-Rock, Hardin County, Illinois, on August 25th.
At least one survivor was flown out of the plane, whereas no fatalities or injuries have been reported so far.
The crash remains under investigation.
SA Airlink flight SA-8103 made an emergency landing in Johannesburg, South Africa, on November 8th.
The plane flying from Harare, Zimbabwe, was descending toward Johannesburg when one of the engines suffered an uncontained failure.
The plane continued for a safe landing. All thirty-four passengers and four crew members remained unharmed.
A Delta airliner had to return and make an emergency landing at Augusto C. Sandino International Airport in Managua, Nicaragua, on March 6.
The Airbus 320, carrying 124 passengers, was taking off from the airport when the crew reported an issue in its forward landing gear. The pilot then turned back and made a safe emergency landing in Managua. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
According to director of Nicaraguan Institute of Civil Aviation Mario Altamirano, “They were preparing for an emergency landing and made it in what we call ‘dead time,’ in other words, when it wouldn’t conflict with other flights.”

When: Nov 9th 2009
Who: 147 passengers and 6 crew
Why: While en route, although the crew got a cabin pressure warning, masks did not deploy. The plane diverted to Manchester where it landed safely, and the problem was judged to be a faulty indicator.
A replacement Airbus was provided.
