Trans States Airlines flight AX-4151/AA-4151 had to return and make an emergency landing at Montréal–Pierre Elliott Trudeau International Airport, Montreal, Québec, Canada, on November 24.
The Embraer ERJ-145, flying to New York on behalf of American Airlines, had to return due to smoke in cockpit.
The plane landed safely.
All 25 passengers and 3 crew members remained unhurt.
Cargolux flight CV-8674 made an emergency landing at Amsterdam Airport, Amsterdam, Netherlands, on December 17.
The Boeing 747-400 was flying from Nairobi, Kenya, to London, England, when it received a smoke indication mid-air above Netherlands.
The plane diverted and landed safely.
All passengers aboard remained unhurt.

What: Delta Airlines Boeing 767-300 en route from Prague to New York
Where: Goose Bay
When: Nov 13th 2009
Why: While en route, the crew detected smoke in the cockpit. After the flight diverted to Goose Bay, the cause of the smoke was determine to be a fan. After repairs, the flight continued to its destination.
On November 12, a Fed Ex flight also diverted to Goose bay for smoke in the cockpit.
A US Airways express flight made an emergency landing at Burlington International Airport, Vermont, on March 26.
The plane was heading from Philadelphia to Montreal when the pilot reported a windshield crack and requested an emergency landing. According to Burlington airport operations foreman Doug Wood, “The crack was reportedly getting larger and working its way down the windshield, so the pilots elected to get the plane on the ground as soon as possible and have it inspected before they did lose the windshield.”
The plane landed uneventfully and all 50 passengers aboard remained safe.
The airline said passengers will be transported to Montreal via bus.

What: Sunexpress Boeing 737-800 en route from Antalya to Dusseldorf
Where: Dusseldorf
When: Oct 28th 2011
Why: Coming in to Dusseldorf, the crew discovered a flaps problem on the 737.
They aborted the initial approach and circled while they attempted correction.
They made a fast landing on the second attempt.
The outgoing flight was detained a couple of hours as repairs were performed on the flight.
American Eagle flight AA-3501 made an emergency landing at Quad City International Airport in Moline, Illinois, on October 6th.
The Embraer ERJ-145 plane flying from Chicago, Illinois, to Manhattan, Kansas, was diverted due to hydraulic issues.
The plane landed safely. All 50 people aboard remained unharmed.
United Airlines flight 1074 had to return for an emergency landing at Washington Dulles International Airport, Virginia, on March 16.
The flight, en-route from Washington Dulles International Airport to Denver International Airport, had to make a U-turn, after a passenger approached the cockpit yelling “jihad, jihad”. One of the pilots then contacted the airport authorities saying, “He ran forward towards the cockpit, and he is being restrained by passengers… Cockpit is secure, and we would like to return to the airport and have the authorities meet him.”
The plane, carrying 33 passengers and 6 crew members, landed uneventfully. No one was harmed.
According to a Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority spokesperson, “A passenger was removed from the plane and transported to a local hospital for evaluation.”
The airline said the passengers were transported to their destination on March 17.
