    NTSB launching team to investigate Boeing 777 crash in San Francisco

    The National Transportation Safety Board launched a full go-team to San Francisco, Calif., to investigate the July 6, 2013 crash involving Asiana Airlines Flight 214, a Boeing 777. The crash occurred while the aircraft was landing at San Francisco International Airport.

    NTSB Senior Aviation Accident Investigator Bill English will serve as investigator-in-charge. NTSB Chairman Deborah A.P. Hersman is accompanying the team and will serve as the principal spokesman.

    * A cautionary note: The official investigation of the cause of the crash will take a year or more. No matter what news releases or speculations come about before the official investigation is just speculation. We do not know, for example, if some part or software in the plane malfunctioned, leading the pilots to respond as they did.

    Chopper Crash in Louisiana, 2 lost

    What: Cenac Marine Services Robinson R44 Raven II
    Where: Belle Isle area east of Wax Lake, LA
    When: Jan 19, 2012, 7:30 am
    Who: 2 aboard
    Why: A helicopter flying south of Morgan City crashed into a marsky area east of Wax Lake. Fishermen called 911 when they saw the burning wreckage.

    The Cenac Marine Services helicopter crashed at 7:30 am, killing the two aboard.

    In St. Mary Parish, Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries has four boats and six agents engaged in search, rescue and recovery. FAA and National Transportation Safety Board investigators will be arriving ASAP.

    Canadian Air Force Helicopter Makes Precautionary Landing in Mineville

    A Royal Canadian Air Force helicopter made a precautionary landing on a cul-de-sac in Mineville, Nova Scotia, Canada, at 10:40 A.M. on July 7.

    The Sea King helicopter was on a routine training flight when it had to land as a precaution after the crew observed a drop in its hydraulic pressure.

    None of the 4 crew members aboard reported any injuries.

    Air Algerie Plane Flown by Child makes Safe landing in Algeria

    Air Algerie flight AH-6212 made a safe landing at Ain Arnat Airport, Algeria, on July 26th.

    The Avions de Transport Regional ATR-72-212A flying from Algiers, Algeria, was about to depart when the captain invited an orphan child to assist in flying.

    The plane landed safely.

    No one was injured.

    Macedonian Prime Minister’s Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Zurich

    A Learjet 60 plane, carrying Macedonian Prime Minister Nikola Gruevski, made an emergency landing in Zurich, Switzerland, on May 21.

    Prime Minister Gruevski was returning to Skopje from Strasbourg when his jet had to make an emergency landing due to technical issues. According to a government spokesperson, “The (technical) failure manifested as a strong noise, from an unknown origin, and it was followed by perturbation of the cabin pressure,”

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unhurt.

    Qantas Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Cairns

    Qantas flight QF-58 made an emergency landing in Cairns, Australia, on February 10th.

    The plane heading from Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea, to Brisbane, Australia, was diverted after a burning odor was noticed on the flight deck.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
