Tara Air Plane Skids Off Runway in Nepal; At Least Four Injured
A Tara Air plane skidded off runway at Simikot Airport, Nepal, on November 28th.
The plane was accelerating to takeoff for Surkhet, Nepal, when it blew a nose tire and skidded off the runway.
There were sixteen people aboard, including thirteen passengers and three crew members. At least four of them were injured in the accident, and were taken to Humla district hospital.
The plane sustained substantial damage.

What: U S Airways flight en route to Alabama Where: Charlotte When: June 29, 2010 Who: 46 passengers Why: One of the plane’s tires blew on takeoff, and the flight had to make an emergency landing in Charlotte NC. The flight landed safely and passengers were provided an alternative flight.

What: stolen plane Where: Shopping mall parking lot in Goiania, near the centre of Brazil When: 18:30 local time Who: Kleber Barbosa da Silva and his 5 year old daughter Penelope Barbosa Correia were killed in the crash. Why: The crash occurred after the husband and wife had an altercation, and da Silva threw his wife out of the car. She was hospitalized in Brasilia; da Silva went on to take his 5 yr old and steal the plane, which crashed in a parking lot.

What: Helios Airways Boeing 737-300 en route from Cyprus to Athens to Prague, Czech Republic Where: Athens When: Aug. 14, 2005 Who: 121 passengers Why: Before losing radio contract, pilots reported trouble with the air conditioning system. In the flight, cabin pressure failure knocked out the pilots. They made it to Athens, but the plane ran out of fuel and crashed. Crash video shows fire fighting planes controlling fires, bodies, baggage, airplane spread over a large debris field, the tail and engines relatively intact. At the time of the crash, except for one pilot (who was observed trying to land the plane), everyone aboard was comatose due to lack of oxygen.

This court case is just another example of how long aviation cases, including the criminal cases of potentially/allegedly responsible parties, can drag on in court.
What: Fuerza Aérea Nicaragüense Antonov 2 Where: Managua Nicaragua When: 15-OCT-2009 Why: While on a test flight, the plane crashed during an emergency landing. Engine failure is presumed to be the cause.
One civilian mechanic is said to have suffered “a minor stroke” during the sharp decline.
