    Strikemaster Crashes in Hudson

    What: Dragon Aviation 1969 BAC 167 Strikemaster en route from Nashville, Tennessee, to an airport in Ghent, New York See more about the plane here
    Where: near the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge, Hudson River, Kingston New York
    When: Feb 26 2011 1:30 p.m.
    Who: pilot Michael Faraldi
    Why: The BAC 167 Strikemaster ex-military jet did a very low pass over the runway before crashing into the frozen Hudson River on approach to Kingston-Ulster Airport at about 1:30 p.m. Saturday near the Kingston-Rhinecliff Bridge. The body of 38-year-old Michael Faraldi was recovered 3 p.m. Sunday. Faraldi whose day job was podiatry was a general aviation pilot on his first transition into a high performance jet-fighter category aircraft.

    Southwest Emergency Landing in San Diego

    What: Southwest Airlines 737 Flight 3252 en route from from San Diego to Baltimore
    Where: Lindbergh Field
    When: Dec 1, 2012, 7:15 a.m.
    Who: 129 passengers, 5 crew
    Why: As the plane was taking off, a flight attendant smelled smoke. The pilot returned to San Diego and made an emergency landing on Lindbergh Field. Oxygen masks were deployed but there were no injuries.

    The plane was slated for inspection and will be removed from service until the issue is solved.

    Delta Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight 17 had to make an emergency landing at Seattle–Tacoma International Airport, Washington, on October 26th.

    The plane took off for Hong Kong, China, but had to turn back after an indicator light went off.

    The plane landed safely at Sea-Tac Airport where the fire trucks hosed down the brakes with water.

    Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Several Injured after Malaysia Airlines Flight Runs into Severe Turbulence

    Malaysia AirlinesMalaysia Airlines flight MH-1 experienced severe turbulence over the Bay of Bengal, on June 5th.

    The Airbus A380-800 plane was flying from Heathrow Airport, London, United Kingdom, when it ran into severe turbulence that injured around 34 people.

    The plane landed uneventfully. The airline said that a small number of passengers and crew members required medical assistance.

    The plane was carrying 378 people at the time.
