    SkyWest Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Palm Springs

    SkyWestSkyWest Airlines flight OO-3046 had to return and make an emergency landing in Palm Springs, California, on September 8th.

    The plane was heading to Phoenix, Arizona, when the crew decided to turn back due to an engine anti ice light indication suggesting that the system had overheated.

    The plane landed safely. All 42 people aboard remained unhurt.

    What: Philippine Air Force GAF N22B Nomad en route from Awang Airport in Cotabato City to Zamboanga
    Where: Virgo Subdivision in Rosary Heights 9.
    When: January 28, 2010
    Who: 8 fatalities including Maj. Gen. Butch Lacso, Two pilots and five crewmen and one fatality on the ground
    Why: After takeoff, the plane suffered an engine failure. The pilot was attempting an emergency landing when the plane crashed in Cotabato City, a residential area outside Manila.

    Air Zimbabwe Plane Makes Emergency Landing due to Loss of Cabin Pressure

    Air Zimbabwe flight UM-467 had to divert for an emergency landing in Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, on July 10th.

    The Boeing 737-200 plane heading from Harare, Zimbabwe, to Johannesburg, South Africa, was diverted due to loss of cabin pressure.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Two US Airways Flights in Emergency Landing in Charlotte

    US AirwaysTwo US Airways flights made emergency landing at Charlotte Douglas International Airport, North Carolina, on October 11.

    In the first incident, flight 745, en-route from New York’s LaGuardia airport to Charlotte, declared emergency during descent shortly before 7 p.m., after the Airbus A320 developed a pressurization issue and oxygen masks got deployed. US Airways spokesman Matt Miller confirmed that the plane landed uneventfully and all 146 passengers and 5 crew members remained unhurt.

    Shortly afterwards, US Airways Express flight 5782, operated by Republic Airways, requested emergency landing at the airport. According to Miller, the Charlotte-bound Embraer 175 aircraft was coming from Greensboro, North Carolina, when a hydraulic problem was reported by the crew. The plane landed safely at about 7:45 p.m. and none of the 28 passengers and 4 crew members was injured.

    Wings of Alaska Plane Crashed in Juneau, Pilot Dead

    wings of alaskaWings of Alaska flight 202 crashed on a hillside, north of Point Howard, in Southeast Alaska, on July 17.

    The Cessna 207 was flying from Juneau to Hoonah when it went down.

    The pilot, identified as Fariah Patterson, 45, lost his life in the crash, while all 4 passengers survived with injuries. Alaska State Troopers identified the passengers as Humberto Herrera, 57, his wife Sandra, 60, Jose Vasquez, 15, and Ernestine Hanlon-Able, 64.

    The NTSB is investigating the cause of the accident.
