    Sun Express Plane Diverts to Belgrade due to Unruly Passenger

    Sun expressA Sun Express flight had to divert to and make an emergency landing at Belgrade Nikola Tesla Airport, Belgrade, Serbia, on October 17.

    The plane, heading from Dublin, Ireland, to Izmir, Turkey, had to be diverted due to an “unruly passenger” aboard. The drunk Irishman stripped off and started harassing a stewardess.

    The plane landed safely.

    All passengers aboard remained unhurt.

    The drunk passenger was taken off the flight in Belgrade, while others continued their journey to Izmir.

    Who: Two individuals on board were injured.
    Why: The plane had trouble gaining altitude shortly after takeoff. It then crashed into some trees off the runway around 8:30 a.m

    Aeroflot Emergency Landing

    What: Aeroflot Airbus A320 en route from Moscow to Krasnodar
    Where: Krasnodar International Airport, Russia
    When: Oct 29. 2012
    Who: 110 aboard
    Why: After there was smoke in the cabin, the crew decided to land because there was smoke in the cockpit. The cause of the smoke was due to an electrical short circuit.

    The pilots made an emergency landing at Krasnodar International Airport. There were no injuries.

    Quantas Autopilot Incident Spurs Part Safety Investigation


    What: Qantas Airways Airbus A330-300 en route from Perth in Western Australia to Singapore
    Where: Perth
    When: Saturday December 27,
    Who: The number of passengers and crew has not yet been released.
    Why: The autopilot on a Qantas Airways Airbus A330 suddenly disconnected 500 kilometres after taking off. The jet was cruising at 36,000 feet when the autopilot quit. The flight successfully turned and landed in Perth.

    This being the second autopilot fault, the situation is being investigated. A prior incident involving an on board system shutoff has been possibly attributed to communications interfering with aircraft onboard systems.

    The ADIRU (air data inertial reference unit) is the flight computer system component about which the crew received an error message during the Dec 27 incident.

    Emirates Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Dubai

    EmiratesEmirates flight EK-22 made an emergency landing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on June 25th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane, flying from Manchester, England, declared emergency after the crew reported that pilot vision was impaired.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    REX Plane Makes Emergency Landing After Propeller Falls Off

    A Regional Express Airlines plane made an emergency landing at Sydney Airport in New South Wales, Australia, on March 17th.

    The Saab 340B plane flying from Albury, New South Wales, Australia, was on approach to Sydney when a propeller fell off.

    The plane landed safely. All 16 passengers and 3 crew members remained unharmed.

    The incident is being investigated.
