    Condor Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Dominican Republic

    condor airlinesCondor Airlines flight DE-3950 made an emergency landing in La Romana, Dominican Republic, on November 12th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane was flying from Munich, Germany, when the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane continued for a safe landing.

    All 254 people aboard remained unharmed.

    What: Lufthansa/Air Dolomiti Avion de Transport Regional ATR-72-500 en route from Verona (Italy) to Munich
    Where: Verona
    When: Apr 28th 2012
    Who: 34 passengers and 4 crew
    Why: While taking off from Verona, the plane lost a nose wheel.

    Pilots returned to the airport making a safe landing after they burned off fuel. Emergency services on standby in the event of a possible fire intervention were not needed.

    A replacement plane was flown in to transport passengers.

    According to initial investigations, the plane may have broken a pin that affixes the wheel.

    Vegas Diversion

    What: United Airlines en route from New York to Los Angeles
    Where: McCarran International Airport
    When: July 23, 2011 1:30 pm
    Who: 111 passengers
    Why: While en route, a light indicated a mechanical emergency, leading the crew to divert to Los Angeles. They made a safe landing at McCarran International Airport.

    Firefighters said there was a problem with the cooling equipment.

    The plane’s departure was delayed.

    Air France Jet Diverts to Vienna due to Burning Odor

    Air FranceAir France flight AF-1688 was forced to divert and make an emergency landing in Vienna, Austria, on October 3.

    The Airbus A319-100, en-route from Charles de Gaulle airport, France, to Bucharest Otopeni airport, Romania, had to be diverted after the crew reported a burning odor on-board.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The passengers were accommodated in other flights.

    Fighter Jets Intercept Vulkan Air Flight After Loss of Communication

    Vulkan Air flight VKA-143 was intercepted by Italian Air Force fighter jets on the way to Leonardo da Vinci–Fiumicino Airport, Italy, on September 16th.

    The incident happened after the plane flying from Tangier, Morocco, lost communication with the ATC.

    The plane subsequently landed safely. The fighter jets returned to the base.
