What: twin engine plane crash
Where: South part of runway 39 at the St Pete – Clearwater Airport.
When: The plane went down shortly after midnight/early Friday morning.
Who: Two women with non-life threatening injures are being treated at separate hospitals.
Why: The landing gear was damaged and the plane landed in a grassy area by runway 39.
The steering gear in the plane hit the pilot in the face. High winds from Hurricane Ike may have played a role in the crash.

American Airlines flight AA-1864 had to return and make an emergency landing at Philadelphia International Airport, Pennsylvania, on November 6.The Airbus A319-100, en-route to Charlotte, North Carolina, had to return due to high oil temperature, forcing the crew to shut one of its engines down mid-air.
The plane landed safely.
All 111 people aboard remained safe.
FedEx Plane Diverts to Whitehorse Airport for Emergency Landing
A FedEx Boeing 777 freighter had to make an unscheduled landing at the Whitehorse airport, Whitehorse, Yukon, Canada, shortly before 8 a.m. on September 4.According to a FedEx spokesperson, the flight, en-route from Memphis, Tennessee, to Anchorage, Alaska, was diverted for emergency landing “due to technical issues.”
The Whitehorse emergency firefighters and medics were put on alert on the airport when the plane landed safely. No one was injured.
The U.S. FAA is investigating.

Delta Airlines Plane Returns to Memphis after Bird Strike
Delta Airlines flight DL-2570 made an emergency landing in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 5th.The plane took off for Atlanta, Georgia, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a bird strike.

Experimental Plane lands on on San Fernando Road

What: experimental single-engine FlightStar
Where: hard emergency landing on San Fernando Road several blocks from Whiteman Airport in the northern Los Angeles suburb of Pacoima in the San Fernando Valley.
When: Wednesday just after 9 p.m.
Who: The pilot’s name was not released.
Why: The plane lost power as it approached the airport. The plane dodged utility lines and clipped a parked car and touched down on on San Fernando Road while vehicles swerved out of the way.
