    Germanwings Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Venice

    GermanwingsGermanwings flight 3882 made an emergency landing at Marco Polo Airport in Venice, Italy, on April 3.

    According to the airline, the flight, en-route from Hanover, Germany, to Rome, was diverted because, “two people, a passenger and a member of the crew, were struck by strong nausea and needed medical treatment.”

    The plane, carrying 149 people, landed uneventfully. Medical attention was provided to the sick passenger and crew member.

    The flight resumed shortly afterwards.

    Icelandair Plane Returns Massachusetts after Gear Problem

    IcelandairIcelandair flight FI-630 had to return and make an emergency landing at Boston Logan International Airport, Boston, Massachusetts, on May 16th.

    The Boeing 767-300, en-route to Keflavik, Iceland, had to return after the crew failed to retract its gear.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 263 people onboard remained unharmed.

    Emirates Airlines Flight Rejects Take Off From Indonesia

    Emirates Airlines flight EK-399 had to reject take off from Denpasar, Indonesia, on January 24th.

    The Boeing 777-300 plane was accelerating to take off for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, when the crew rejected take off due to a cargo smoke indication.

    The plane safely returned to the apron. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    What: Hainan Airlines Boeing 737-300, HU7871 en route from Xi’an, Shaanxi Province to Shenzhen in Guangdong Province
    Where: landing at an airport in the island province of Hainan (extreme south of China)
    When: 2009-03-05 19:21:09
    Who: 112 passengers and a crew of six
    Why: The crew reported a mechanical problem and requested an emergency landing. They turned off one engine, and landed. Reportedly, there were “problems with the throttle that might have led to an excessively fast landing.”

    No injuries were reported.

    Flydubai Flight Rejects Takeoff From Ukraine

    Flydubai flight FZ-724 had to reject takeoff from Odessa, Ukraine, on October 27th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Dubai, United Arab Emirates, when the crew noticed a problem and rejected takeoff at low speed.

    Smoke was emanating from the plane as it stopped.

    Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Pia Emergency Landing in Iran

    On January 4, 2013, a Pia Airbus A310-324 en route from Kuwait to Lahore with 198 passengers aboard diverted to Kerman Airport, Iran.

    The plane was en route when it developed a hydraulics problem and diverted to Kerman Airport, according to http://www.aerocenter.ir/forum/thread22299.html#post104898

    The flight left Kerman Airport and flew to Karachi where they made a safe landing.
