    What: Air Service Berlin Douglas C-47 Skytrain, Vintage DC3 “Rosinenbomber”
    Where: Berlin’s Schoenefeld airport
    When: June 19, 2010
    Who: 3 crew, 25 tourists, 7 injuries
    Why: After the left engine failed, the DC3 made an emergency landing at Schoenefeld airport in Berlin. The flight made a safe landing. The plane was part of a 1948-49 fleet that carried supplies during the Berlin Airlift, and is now used to shuttle tourists.

    On landing, the right wing and engine separated resulting in a small fire.

    7 Injured After Cathay Pacific Flight Hits Turbulence

    Cathay Pacific flight CX-157 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Manila, Philippines, on October 9th.

    The Airbus A350-900 plane heading from Hong Kong, China, to Brisbane, Australia, was diverted after it encountered severe turbulence that injured six crew members and one passenger.

    The plane landed safely. The injured were taken to hospital.

    Delta Airlines Plane Returns to Memphis after Bird Strike

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight DL-2570 made an emergency landing in Memphis, Tennessee, on December 5th.

    The plane took off for Atlanta, Georgia, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a bird strike.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were 144 passengers and 5 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained safe.

    Flydubai Plane Continues for Safe Landing in Iran after Flaps Problem

    flydubaiFlydubai flight FZ-251 continued for a safe landing at Mashhad International Airport, Mashhad, Iran, on March 29.

    The Boeing 737-800, flying from Dubai, UAE to Mashhad, was on approach to runway when the crew was unable to extend the flaps, prompting the plane to hold mid-air and use alternate flaps for landing.

    The plane landed successfully.

    All passengers onboard remained safe.

    Virgin Australia Plane Returns to California with Cracked Windshield

    Virgin australiaVirgin Australia flight VA-8 returned and made an emergency landing at Los Angeles International Airport, California, on the morning of July 29.

    The Boeing 777, heading towards Brisbane, Australia, was turned around after the pilots noticed a crack in its windshield.

    The passenger jet landed safely and there were no reported injuries.

    After inspection, the crew “rectified the issue”, and allowed the plane to fly again.
