    Sao Paulo Crash Sunday Nov 4

    Reali Taxi Aero’s small executive Learjet 35 took off in the rain at 14:10 local from Campo de Marte Airport in Sao Paulo and crashed into a house in the Casa Verde neighborhood half a kilometre from the runway after taking off. Eight people died; the bodies of four men, three women and a baby were found in the plane wreckage.

    Three others were rescued, including Claudia Lima Fernandes, 30,who was badly burned, and an 11 year old girl.

    Other neighborhood houses had to be evacuated and are being evaluated for safety.

    Witnesses said that the jet, which took off from Campo de Marte for Rio de Janeiro, ploughed nose first into the houses when it seemed to attempt a return to the airport.

    This was Sao Paulo’s second large air tragedy this year. On July 17, a TAM Airbus crashed while landing at the Congonhas airport, killing 199 people.

    São Paulo is known for its large helicopter fleet. Businessmen often fly the vast city by helicopter to avoid traffic and security threats .However last Monday three helicopters crashed in Sao Paulo in two hours.

    Three people died. Five days earlier, after having mechanical problems, an air force plane crashed north of Sao Paulo, There were no casualties.

    New Mexico Cessna Crash

    What: Rod Aviation twin-engine Cessna 310 en route from Cleburne Muncipal Airport to Ruidoso
    Where: near the Sierra Blanca Airport, which is located about 18 miles northeast of Ruidoso
    When: June 17 2010 @ 9:50 a.m
    Who: fatalities: Rodney and DeLaine Duree, both 50, and their son, Lake, Karl Richey, 46, and his wife, Kaeri, 44. Hospitalized: Richeys’ sons, Alexander, 16, and Christopher, 12.
    Why: The flight crashed while attempting to land and caused a forest fie which has now been contained. The purpose of the flight was to scatter a relative’s ashes in New Mexico.

    Russian Mig-31s Grounded after MilitaryJet Engine Explodes

    What: Russian Mikoyan Mig-31 en route from Bolshoye Savinovo
    Where: Perm, Russia
    When: Sept 6, 2011
    Who: pilot and copilot, 2 fatalities
    Why: A Flight Data Recorder from the Russian MiG-31 Foxhound fighter jet which took off on a routine training flight and exploded in Perm, Russia, has been found. The flight took off and exploded while still in the air, landed and flipped over, on fire. The explosion is being blamed on an engine malfunction.

    All all Mig-31s have been grounded.

    Helicopter Crashes in Alaska; 1 Rescued, 3 Missing

    A helicopter crashed near Lituya Bay, Alaska, on September 28th.

    The helicopter was transporting four people from Grand Prairie, Texas, to Wasilla, Alaska, when it went down.

    The U.S. Coast Guard rescued a 14-year-old survivor of the crash. Other occupants of the aircraft remain missing.

    NC National Guard Firefighting Plane


    What: MAFF 7 C-130
    When: July 1, 2012 6:30 p.m. Sunday night
    Who: Six aboard, including Lt. Col. Paul Mikeal and Master Sergeant Robert Cannon
    Why: The tanker made at least two drops of fire retardant on the White Draw fire before it crashed around 6 p.m, the first SUCH crash in the 40-year history of the MAFFS program, a joint Defense Department and U.S. Forest Service program. MAFFS is the Forest Service’s self-contained aerial firefighting system. It can discharge 3,000 gallons covering an area a quarter of a mile long by 100 feet wide in less than five seconds.

    Three firefighters were transported by ambulance to a Rapid City hospital. North Carolina state flag have been lowered to half-staff at all state facilities from sunrise to sunset(Tuesday, July 3) to honor the N.C. National Guard members who died.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing on U.S. Highway 27

    A small plane made an emergency landing on U.S. highway 27, just north of Interstate 75, in Weston, Broward County, Florida, on January 24.

    The Cessna 172 was en-route from Palm Beach County to Key West when the pilot Arnaldo Santiago, of Palm Beach Gardens, noticed some issue in the plane and decided to land on the highway.

    The plane landed uneventfully. There were three people aboard at the time; none of them were injured.
