Pocono Helicopter Crash Investigation Underway


What: ACS Helicopter LLC Bell 407 helicopter
Where: Mount Pocono
When: Oct 11, 2012
Who: Two fatalities, one injury
Why: The Tuesday wreck piloted by a full time American Airlines pilot (part time with ACS Helicopter LLC) was discovered at 2:30 a.m. wednesday. The helicopter encountered bad weather as it passed through northern Monroe County. Pocono Mountains Municipal Airport is not equipped for receiving distress calls.

The helicopter was found on its right side, leaking fluids, with broken rotor and tail.

Fatalities of the crash were Pilot William Ellsworth, 52, of Califon, N.J., and passenger Tighe Sullivan, 51, of Darien, Conn.

    PSA Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Kansas City

    PSA Airlines flight JIA-9925 had to return and make an emergency landing in Kansas City, Missouri, on February 20th.

    The plane took off for Charlotte, North Carolina, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a gear problem.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Delta Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Orlando

    DeltaDelta Airlines flight 1332 had to make an emergency landing at Orlando International Airport, Florida, at around 7:47 a.m. on October 9.

    The Boeing 757 was on its way from Southwest Florida International Airport in Fort Myers to Atlanta when it lost hydraulic pressure on the left side.

    The plane landed uneventfully and everyone aboard remained safe.

    The passengers were shifted to another aircraft.

    Japan Airlines Flight Returns to Boston


    A Japan Airlines 787 was en route from Boston to Tokyo when a maintenance indicator flashed early in the flight.

    Pilots returned to Boston where they made a safe landing at 6:15 p.m. The problem is being reported as a maintenance issue.

    Flightradar24 website shows that Japan Airlines flight 7 was over Hudson Bay in Canada when it turned around.

    New Mexico Cessna Crash

    What: Rod Aviation twin-engine Cessna 310 en route from Cleburne Muncipal Airport to Ruidoso
    Where: near the Sierra Blanca Airport, which is located about 18 miles northeast of Ruidoso
    When: June 17 2010 @ 9:50 a.m
    Who: fatalities: Rodney and DeLaine Duree, both 50, and their son, Lake, Karl Richey, 46, and his wife, Kaeri, 44. Hospitalized: Richeys’ sons, Alexander, 16, and Christopher, 12.
    Why: The flight crashed while attempting to land and caused a forest fie which has now been contained. The purpose of the flight was to scatter a relative’s ashes in New Mexico.

    Boeing: Montana Cracked Windshield

    What: Air Tran Boeing 737 en route from Seattle to Milwaukee
    Where: Billings Montana
    When: Oct 29, 2011
    Who: 124 passengers
    Why: The flight took off normally, but over Montana, the windshield cracked.

    The crew diverted the flight to Billings Montana where they made a safe landing.
