Why: On January 1, 2013, Kenya Airways flight KQ320 was en route when it developed engine problems.
Online sources said that there may have been an engine fire handled by an engine fire suppression system while other sources denied a fire. Passengers reported fire shooting from the left engine.
After less than half an hour in the air, pilots returned to Khartoum where they made a safe landing.
Passengers were provided alternative transportation (Wednesday).
A Norwegian Air flight en route from Copenhagen, Denmark to Oslo, Norway had to make an emergency landing in Sweden, due to a bomb threat from an on-board passenger.
The Boeing 737, carrying around 94 people, was on its way on April 25 afternoon when a passenger told a crew member that he had placed a bomb in the cargo hold. Following the threat, the plane made emergency landing at Landvetter airport, Gothenburg, Sweden, at around 3.30pm GMT.
Lasse Sandaker-Nielsen, the spokesperson for Norwegian Air said “Passengers have left the plane and the man who had warned of the bomb is under control by the police.”
Björ Blixter, a Gothenburg Police official said that the investigation is underway.
Japan Airlines flight 521 made an emergency landing at Haneda airport in Tokyo, Japan, on April 8.
The twin-engine Boeing 777 was heading from Haneda to Hokkaido when the pilot reported a suspected engine fault and sought permission to land back.
Authorities said the aircraft’s right engine had to be shut down midair before it made a safe emergency landing.
All 228 passengers and 11 crew members remained unhurt.

What: Thomson Airways Boeing 767-300 en route from Cancun (Mexico) to Bristol,EN (UK),

When: Oct 3 2010
Why: On Sept 16, the same plane had had another hard landing causing damage.
On this flight, the plane accelerated for reasons unknown during a hard landing on arrival at Bristol. Unspecified damages occurred, no injuries reported.
Swiss International Air Lines flight LX-2250 had to return and make an emergency landing at Zurich Airport, Kloten, Switzerland, on July 7th.
The Helvetic Fokker 100, en-route to Budapest, Hungary, was mid-air above Austria when the crew reported that ground spoilers were inoperative, prompting the plane to return.
The plane landed uneventfully. All people onboard remained unharmed.
The flight was cancelled.
Envoy Air flight MQ-3699 burst a tire upon landing at O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Illinois, on October 12th.
The incident happened when the Embraer ERJ-175 plane was coming from Madison, Wisconsin.
No injuries were reported.
