Why: Apparently the plane crashed due to a short circuit in the rotor, hit a roof and burst into flame. Individuals inside were evacuated. So far, no fatalities have been reported.

Locals saw a ball of fire fall from the sky 35 kilometers from the town of Los Menucos in an area not available to cell phone usage. Rescue units (three ambulances and civil defense team including the police force of Black River (Rio Negro), Sierra Colorado, General Roca and Los Menucos) were deployed but there were no survivors.

What: Compass Airlines Embraer ERJ-170-200 en route from Minneapolis to Saskatoon Where: Saskatoon When: Nov 20th 2009 Who: 56 on board Why: On approach to Saskatoon, the plane sent a nose wheel steering warning. The plane landed in Saskatoon incident-free, and inspected the plane without finding a cause or record of the warning. Subsequently, the systems were rebooted.

The pilots had to return to Bergen to get the engine’s attitude adjusted.

What: Delta Airlines Boeing 737-700 en route from Key West Atlanta Where: Sarasota When: Aug 8th 2010 Who: 2 flight attendants Why: While en route, the flight encountered turbulence, injuring two flight attendants. The flight flew on to Atlanta and made a safe landing.

What: Arkefly Boeing 737-800 en route from Amsterdam to Lanzarote,CI Where: Amsterdam When: Dec 16th 2010 Who: 178 passengers Why: About half an hour into the flight, people aboard began complaining they were being affected by fumes aboard the plane. Both passengers and crew complained of nausea. Returning to Amsterdam, the plane made a safe landing and those affected were treated at the airport. The fumes were assumed to be from de-icing compounds.
