    What: American Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from Los Angeles,CA to Dallas Ft. Worth,TX
    Where: Los Angeles
    When: Dec 18th 2009
    Who: 193 passengers
    Why: On takeoff, the right main gear door was stuck open, and the landing gear would not retract. The plain turned around and landed safely at LAX. Passengers debarked and were provided an alternative flight.

    Air Canada Bird Strike over Montreal

    What: Air Canada Embraer ERJ-190 en route from Orlando to Montreal
    Where: Montreal
    When: Jun 21st 2009
    Who: 85 people on board
    Why: After a normal lift-off and flight, on approach to Montreal, birds struck the plane’s right wing lodging the flaps in an extended position. Despite the slat problem, the plane landed safely within 20 minutes of the strike.

    Jetlite Diverts due to Engine trouble.

    What: Jetlite Boeing 737-800 en route from Port Blair to Delhi
    Where: NSC Bose international airport in Kolkata
    When: 2.55 pm
    Who: 187 passengers
    Why: While en route, the Jetlite plane developed problems with its right engine, and diverted to the NSC Bose International Airport. The plane made a safe landing.

    Jetlite defined the problem as “technical trouble” and said that the plane was being repaired in a parking bay.

    * Kolkata was a scheduled stop. Passengers who were planning to continue on to Delhi were booked on other planes.

    Fed Ex Emergency Landing in Indianapolis

    What: Fedex McDonnell Douglas MD-11 en route from Anchorage to Memphis,TN
    Where: Indianapolis
    When: Jul 31st 200
    Who: 2 crew
    Why: On experiencing hydraulics failure, the flight diverted to Indianapolis, landing safely just after midnight. No injuries were reported.

    It is a shame they diverted FROM Memphis, where the Fed Ex hub is, and complete repair facilities.

    Agni Air Crash Fatalities sent to Kathmandu


    Identification of the 15 victims of the Agni Air Crash in Nepal is going to be a difficult task, due to the condition of the remains.

    The six survivors have been hospitalized in from critical to serious condition. A six year old, and a nine year old along with their father, are among the survivors. They are hospitalized Pokhara. Their father is in ICU and may survive.

    Among the dead is the Rasna girl, actress Taruni Sachdev, Sanam Sundhar, G Raman, Latha Ethambai, mother of two children who survived and Swarnalakshmi.

    After autopsy, the bodies of the victims will be handed over to their families. Everyone on the flight had visited the Iskcon temple at Chowpatty and were on their way to the Muktinath temple in Nepal, when the pilot turned with plane trouble, his intent to return to Pokhara Airport, and his wing struck a muddy slope, crashing the plane.

    US Airways Airbus Flat at Philadelphia

    What: US Airways Airbus A321-200 en route from Phoenix,AZ to Philadelphia,PA
    Where: Philadelphia
    When: Sep 24 2010 10:30 p.m
    Who: 183 on board
    Why: Emergency services in Philadelphia were awaiting the landing of the US Airways Airbus. On takeoff from Phoenix, the plane had developed tire trouble.

    NBC reported that the “jet blew a tire” on landing.

    In any case, on landing, maintenance confirmed that the plane’s inner right tire was ruptured. No injuries were reported.
