Worth,TX Where: Longview When: Jun 28th 2010 Who: 36 passengers, 3 crew Why: While en route, the flight encountered severe turbulence, resulting in injury. (Around 7 p m, the plane flew through a storm.) Two passengers and a flight attendant were hospitalized; three other passengers incurred lesser injuries not requiring hospitalization.

What: Silk Way Airlines Illushin IL-76TD en route from Baku Azerbaijan to Bagram Air Force Base Afghanistan Where: Bagram Afghanistan When: Jul 6th 2011 Who: 9 crew Why: Carrying 18 tons of automobiles and trailers, the flight took off from Baku and lost radar contact 13.5 miles from Kabul. The plane struck a mountain near Akhshay in the Ghorband/Syahgerd district at 19:40 on Jul 5th. Eight bodies were recovered at 12,500 feet.
The cause of the crash is unknown. The distict chief of Siagerd stated publicly that there was a big explosion heard when the plane struck the mountain.

What: US Army Bell OH-58D Kiowa Warrior Where: SW training area of Joint Base Lewis-McChord When: Dec 12, 2011 8 pm Who: 2 occupants, 2 fatalities Why: Two two-seat reconnaissance “Scout”choppers crashed during routine exercises at Joint Base Lewis-McChord, a few miles from Ranier Washington. Four individuals died in the event. Two were injured. It has not been released if the two injured were aboard, or if the choppers collided.
The remains were taken to Madigan Army Medical Center.
The debris field covered 300 meters. Military vehicles were securing the scene.
The Fort Rucker, Alabama Combat Readiness Center is coordinating the investigation, beginning with a six member team.

Contact photographer Alex G.-Denicourt What: Continental Airlines Boeing 737-700 en route from Houston,TX to McAllen,TX Where: McAllen, TX When: Apr 18th 2009 Who: 104 passengers and 5 crew Why: First, severe thunderstorms delayed takeoff. Then, en route, fasten seat belt signs were on. The plane experienced turbulence while a woman was in the bathroom; she hit the ceiling and sustained serious back injuries. A flight attendant and another passenger also were injured. On landing, the seriously injured women was ported to the hospital and underwent (2?) neck surgery/ies. It is not known if the severely injured passenger will be permanently paraplegic.

What: Egyptair Airbus A320-200 en route from Cairo to Nairobi Where: Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi When: June 6, 2012, 3.36am Who: 143 aboard Why: While landing at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, the plane veered off the runway on to soft ground, shutting down the airport and causing delays for the rest of the day. Passengers were evacuated with no injuries reported. Flights were diverted to Mombasa and Entebbe.
Passengers disembarked on the soft ground and were ported to the gate.

What: Qantas Boeing 737-400 en route from Brisbane,QL to Melbourne,VI Where: Brisbane When: Nov 10th 2009 Who: 123 passengers Why: After takeoff, the crew detected abnormal engine vibrations, and returned to Brisbane 30 minutes after departure. Passengers reported hearing a bang and seeing a flash. A replacement flight was provided.
