    What: Air Nostrum Dash 8 Q-300 en route from Barcelona to San Sebastian
    Where: El Prat, Barcelona
    When: October 22, 2009
    Who: 31 passengers, 3 flight crew
    Why: While en route, the Dash 8 developed a problem with its nose gear and returned to Barcelona for an emergency landing. The plane landed safely with the front landing gear retracted, and after they debarked, were provided an alternative Air Nostrum flight to continue to their destination.

    Air Leisure Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Cairo

    Air Leisure flight AL-730 had to return and make an emergency landing in Cairo, Egypt, on February 18th.

    The Airbus A340-200 plane took off for Shanghai, China, but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew received a cargo door open indication.

    The plane landed back safely. All 265 people aboard remained unharmed.

    Emirates Plane Returns to Ethiopia after Bird Strike

    EmiratesEmirates Airlines flight EK-724 returned and made an emergency landing in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on September 25.

    The Airbus A330-200 was heading to Dubai, UAE, when a bird struck its right engine, forcing the crew to shut down the engine and declare an emergency.

    The plane landed safely.

    No injuries were reported.

    All Nippon Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Loss of Cabin Pressure

    All Nippon Airways flight NH-629 made an emergency landing at Kansai International Airport, Japan, on June 27th.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane heading from Tokyo to Kagoshima, Japan, was diverted due to the loss of cabin pressure.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and five passengers and eight crew members remained unharmed.

    Denver Birdstrike under Investigation


    What: United Boeing 737-900 en route from Dallas to Denver
    Where: Denver
    When: Jul 31, 2012, 9:00 a.m.
    Who: 151 aboard
    Why: The Boeing was on approach when it suffered a bird strike in the nose cone. The bird strike did not affect the engine or landing gear.

    No one was injured. The birds remains are being identified by an ornithologist.

    The NTSB is investigating.

    Cathay Pacific Flight Returns to India After Bird Strike

    Cathay Pacific flight CX-646 had to return and make an emergency landing in Hyderabad, India, on May 21st.

    The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for Hong Kong, China, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed safely. All 244 people aboard remained unharmed.
