    American Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Iowa

    american airlinesAmerican Airlines flight AA-2023 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Des Moines International Airport, Polk County, Iowa, on March 18.

    The Airbus A321-200, flying from Chicago, Illinois to Phoenix, Arizona, was mid-air above Iowa when the crew detected smoke in the cockpit, causing it to divert.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    All 196 people onboard remained unhurt.

    The incident is under investigation.

    American Airlines Flight Diverts to Columbus After Loss of Cabin Pressure

    American Airlines flight AA-1322 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Columbus, Ohio, on October 17th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane heading from Dallas, Texas, to Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, was diverted due to the loss of cabin pressure.

    The plane landed uneventfully. It is believed that several passengers suffered nose and ear bleeds.

    Fiji Airways Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Engine Fire Indication

    Fiji Airways flight FJ-7 had to return and make an emergency landing in Nadi, Fiji, on February 13th.

    The plane took off for Suva, Fiji, but had to return shortly afterwards due to an engine fire indication.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    No Survivors in AirBlue Airbus Crash in Pakistan

    What: AirBlue Airbus A321-200 en route from Karachi to Islamabad Pakistan
    Where: Margalla Hills about 10nm north of Islamabad
    When: Jul 28th 2010
    Who: 146 passengers and 6 crew
    Why: While on approach to Islamabad in poor weather conditions during monsoon rain and low visibility, radio contact was lost (at 09:45) and the plane impacted the terrain.

    Helicopters flew into the mountainous area, which is difficult to access. Initial reports were that there were no survivors then helicopters were reported to have flown five survivors to hospitals. Six bodies have been recovered including the pilot but there are no survivors (in spite of the video report.)

    Emergency landing in UK

    What: single-engined light plane en route from French Island, in Westernport Bay south-east of Melbourne to Moorabbin Airport
    Where: Quarry Rd, Langwarrin, in Melbourne’s outer south
    When: about 2pm.
    Who: student pilot and his instructor
    Why: It is believed the engine failed. Teacher and student are unhurt.
