    Delta Handles Double Emergency Landing


    What: Delta Air Lines MD88 flight DL1102 en route from Washington Dulles,DC to Atlanta,GA
    Where: diverted to Greenville-Spartanburg International Aiport for an emergency landing on runway 22.
    When: 5 p.m. Thursday.
    Who: 146 passengers and crew members
    Why: Initially the crew noticed smoke in the cockpit and was diverted to Greenville-Spartanburg. Additionally on landing, one of the right main gear tires blew. Passengers were evacuated onto the taxiway using slides.

    What: Continental Airlines Boeing 737-700 en route from Houston,TX to McAllen,TX
    Where: McAllen, TX
    When: Apr 18th 2009
    Who: 104 passengers and 5 crew
    Why: First, severe thunderstorms delayed takeoff. Then, en route, fasten seat belt signs were on. The plane experienced turbulence while a woman was in the bathroom; she hit the ceiling and sustained serious back injuries. A flight attendant and another passenger also were injured. On landing, the seriously injured women was ported to the hospital and underwent (2?) neck surgery/ies. It is not known if the severely injured passenger will be permanently paraplegic.

    Do not think the seatbelt sign does not apply to you. You’re not someone exempt from turbulence. The seatbelt sign applies to everyone.

    4 Crew Members Injured as Air France Plane Faces Severe Turbulence

    Air FranceAir France flight AF006 had to return to the Charles de Gaulle airport, France, on the afternoon of November 4.

    The flight, heading to New York’s JFK airport, was turned back after 4 crew members got injured midair due to severe turbulence. According to a statement released by Air France, the aircraft faced bad weather during the initial cruise phase.

    The Airbus A380 superjumbo aircraft landed uneventfully and medical aid was provided immediately to the injured crew members.

    All the passengers remained unharmed.

    American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Chicago

    American Airlines flight AA-2587 had to return and make an emergency landing in Chicago, Illinois, on May 8th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane took off for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, but had to turn back after an odor was noticed in the cabin.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and seventy-five passengers and six crew members remained unharmed.

    AirAsia Flight Rejects Takeoff From Chennai

    AirAsia flight AK-10 had to reject takeoff from Chennai, India, on December 22nd.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane was accelerating to takeoff for Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, when the crew rejected takeoff due to a bird strike.

    The plane safely returned to the apron.

    All one hundred and sixty-eight people aboard remained unharmed.

    US Airways Flight Rocked by Eastern Turbulence

    What: US Airways Boeing 757-200 en route from Orlando to Philadelphia
    Where: Lynchburg
    When: Apr 16th 2011
    Who: flight attendant
    Why: The plane took off as normal with no problem, but encountered turbulence near Lynchburg Virginia, during which a flight attendant was seriously injured.

    The pilot descended to a lower altitude, and landed safely in Philadelphia less than an hour later.
