although there was no low cloud affecting the airport, the wind at Belfast was a strong
west?south-westerly, gusting up to 48 kt. Before the approach, the commander checked
that his prosthetic lower left arm was securely attached to the yoke clamp which he used to
fly the aircraft, with the latching device in place. But his arm came off, leading to a hard landing.

Delta Airlines flight Dl-964 made a safe emergency landing at Detroit Metropolitan Airport, Romulus, Michigan, May 10th.
The Airbus A320-200 flying from New York was about to land when it had to go-around due to loss of nose wheel steering.
The plane landed safely.
All 66 people aboard remained safe.
Bird-Hit Virgin America Flight Makes Safe Landing in Fort Lauderdale
Virgin America flight VX-501 made a safe landing following a bird strike in Fort Lauderdale, Florida, on December 28th.
The plane flying from John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, was on final approach when the left engine ingested a bird.
The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Why: On approach to Pokhara, the crew received an indication of unsafe gear.
The flight returned to Kathmandu, where the gear appeared normal, and made a routine landing. The indicator was faulty.
