JetBlue flight 1416 had to return and make an emergency landing at Long Beach Airport, California, at about 9:30 a.m. on September 18.
According to airport spokesperson, Kerry Gerot, the plane, heading to Austin, Texas, was diverted for landing back after its second engine got overheated and the pilot reported smoke in the cockpit.
The Airbus A320 landed uneventfully and all 142 passengers and 5 crew members exited through emergency slides.
According to local fire department officials, 4 passengers suffered from medical issues and one of them was shifted to hospital with complaint of shortness of breath.
Actor Jackson Rathbone was also aboard the flight along with his wife and son. He tweeted “I grabbed my son and jumped down the inflated ramp, my wife following… We left all our personal effects onboard. Who cares. We were alive.”

George’s Point of View
The report says that a crew “talking very good English” reported the medical crisis. Simply based on the way that is phrased, one might assume that perhaps that English wasn’t quite as well-spoken as the claim asserts. Or perhaps there may have been weather issues. Or traffic issues. (When does New York NOT have traffic issues?) Or perhaps we are simply living in a post 9/11 America.
At least, we are told that the German passenger who had suffered vomiting appears to be recovering nicely.
I am sure in the days to come, this non-event (after all, nothing seriously untoward happened) is something that will be investigated and published. It is too ripe an opportunity for U.S. detractors to miss aiming some kind of anti-American propaganda toward.

What: Roadside Ventures LLC Pilatus PC-12/47 en route to Kansas Where: Tiger Creek Swamp area, Lake Wales, Polk County, Florida When: June 7, 2012, 12:36 Who: 6 aboard, 6 fatalities Why: After taking off from Fort Pierce, the plane returning the Bramlage family from Bermuda began having trouble at 28,000 feet, and crashed in a remote area in Florida in an area of the Tiger Creek Preserve reachable by helicopters and all-terrain vehicles. The remains of the pilot 45-year-old Ronald, his wife Rebecca, 15-year-old Brandon, 11-year-old Bo, and 8-yea- old Roxanne have been recovered. Thirteen year old Boston is missing. There is a gaping hole in the plane, and the NTSB and FAA is speculating that Boston may have been sucked from the plane while in the air.
Witnesses in the Babson Park area heard a loud noise and apparently witnessed mechanical issues. Some witnesses saw the plane “twirling” before it crashed; other witnesses saw the plane flip and fly upside down.
The recovery party says the debris field covers hundreds of acres and that the plane came apart in the air. The investigation is being conducted by the NTSB and the FAA, and the search for Boston continues.
