    Small Plane Crashes in Michigan

    What: DEM Enterprises Commander 114B en route from Scranton to Lenawee
    Where: just northeast of Adrian in Cadmus, Michigan at Heritage Park near M-52 in Raisin Township
    When: 23-OCT-2009 4:30 pm
    Who: husband and wife, Eric Beaudry and Deb Rodgers-Beaudry
    Why: While en route, the plane crashed in a field. Witnesses say the plane was on fire as it came down, and that one wing was loose or coming off. It is speculated that the wing hit a control tower. One remained aboard; one was ejected. Both people aboard died.

    Managers Indicted on Spanair Flight JK5022


    update

    Three Spanair managers, the Spanair shift supervisor at Madrid airport, the maintenance manager and the quality manager, indicted for “negligent homicide” for Spanair Flight JK5022 will be appearing before a judge between June 20 and 22.

    Malware in the mainframe software may have been involved in the crash.

    Two mechanics were also indicted.

    Snowboarder Rescued by Search and Rescue team

    On December 18, 2012, the crew aboard a RCAF Cormorant search and rescue found and rescued a snowboarder stranded in a steep ravine between Horseshoe Bay and Lions Bay, British Columbia.

    In poor visibility and blowing snow, the 442 Transport and Rescue Squad hoisted Search and Rescue Teams 300 feet through trees to the waiting snowboarder who was retrieved, then flown to Vancouver International Airport and handed over to B.C. Ambulance.

    Beechcraft Crashes in Philippines

    What: Beechcraft A65 Queen Air en route from Basco, Batanes to Tuguegarao in Cagayan
    Where: Cagayan province in northern Luzon, Philippines
    When: Nov 29, 2010, 1:30 pm
    Who: 13 aboard
    Why: Pilots Captain Agustin Jose and Captain Benedict Dela Cruz manned the Beechcraft when both of the engines stopped at 300 feet. They crashed along the Cagayan River in Barangay San Vicente in Iguig town around 1:30 p.m. The flight skidded through a corn field into the Cagayan River shallows, landing 19 kilometers from the airport where it was was scheduled to gas up.

    The plane landed on water, and like another flight we all remember, everyone got out of the plane and stood on the wings. Rescue arrived via boat within 20 minutes.

    Passengers included Rustom Hontonia, Jack Castaño, Jovani Pahodpod, David Batan, Benedict John Acebes, Mae Jane Agcaoili, Harold Agito, Kate Vallentes, Mika Horkajo, Hana Horkajo and Yale Mark Elep. Agito, Acebes and Pahodpod are Boy Scouts. (Elementary students and their teachers were traveling to a Philippines activity in Cabugao, Ilocos Sur. ) Mika and Hana were five and three years old.

    No one was hurt in the crash, which is under investigation.

    Superjet Wreckage Found

    What: Sukhoi Superjet 100-95 en route from Jakarta to Jakarta Halim Perdanakusuma Airport
    Where: Indonesia
    When: May 9th 2012
    Who: 36 passengers, 6 crew and 2 Sukhoi official
    Why: A rescue helicopter found the wreckage a vertical wall of rock, scattered debris on the cliff surrounded by forest.

    Louisiana Cessna Crash Kills 3 from Mississippi

    What: Cessna 182 en route from Slidell, La., to Marksville, La.
    Where: in a wooded area west of Independence, La., near the town of Albany.
    When: went down just before midnight Friday Feb 28, 2009
    Who: Passengers were 39-year-old Tabitha Dolbare, of Vancleave, Miss.; 39-year-old Glyn Ray Johnson, of Gautier, Miss.; and their son Nelson Dolbare, 13, of Vancleave.
    Why: After the plane disappeared from radar about 11:50 p.m., Livingston Parish Sheriff’s Office received phone calls that they heard an engine sputtering and a plane crash. The plane crashed in a heavily wooded unpopulated area not long after takeoff. Rescuers had difficulty getting to the wreckage and were assisted in their search with the use of thermal imaging equipment and a search light.
