Utair Boeing Skids off Runway

On July 15, 2013, a UTair Boeing 737-524 en route from Moscow to Kiev ran off the runway on landing. It was misting at the time, leading to a slippery runway but was described as coming to a quick stop at 30-40 meters on level ground.Firefighters took five minutes to arrive and ambulances five minutes after that but there was no fire and no injury reported.
None of the 77 passengers or crew sustained any injury. Passengers disembarked evacuated from the plane with fixed ladders rather than inflatable emergency ladders on to the soft ground, and were transported to the gate.

Helicopter Crashes in Slovakia’s Vah River

On March 3, 2013, at 17:13 Eurocopter EC-120 Colibri crashed in Horný ?epe?, Sere? district in Slovakia after hitting a cable that was stretched between trees.The helicopter landed in the Váh river.
Three wounded individuals were transported to University Hospital in Trnava where they were treated for hypothermia, head injuries, lacerations and abrasions.
The thirteen year old son of the pilot was trapped in the helicopter and died at the scene.
The injured parties include a twenty-one year old woman and a 42 year old man. They are in stable condition. The pilot is 40 years old. He is being investigated. Alcohol may have been a factor.
Part of the helicopter was retrieved by firemen initially, and the rest recovered later and loaded on to an armed forces flatbed, with the assistance of divers and military technology.
All of those aboard were Slovakian.

Private Plane Crash Pilot from Yuma Identified

What: E300 EXTRA FLUGZEUGBAU GMBH EA-300
Where: Salinas California
When: April 8 2012, 6:57
Who: two fatalities
Why: Captain George Mellone was flying his plane in Salinas with David Ostendorf when it crashed. Both died of blunt force trauma. Mellone was a harrier pilot who had flown home to Yuma for Easter weekend.Mellone was a Marine Captain stationed at Air Station Yuma who graduated from the University of N. Dakota in 2007 with a degree in aviation management, and had earned three Navy and Marine Corps Achievement Medals, the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal, National Defense Service Medal and Global War on Terrorism Service Medal and obtained the rank of Captain since joining the Corps in 1999. He had been performing stunts right before his plane crashed. The cause of his crash is under investigation.
His co-pilot was 24-year-old David Gary Ostendorf, a 2010 St. Cloud State University aviation graduate, was an FAA controller at the Montery Regional Airport Tower. The cause of the crash has not been identified.

Part Two of the Gol Sentences, in which ATC is Accountable
We recently mentioned when the pilots of the two US pilots were sentenced to US community service for the 2006 Midair collision between a GOL Boeing and a business jet.
In addition to the pilots, the Air Traffic Controller Lucivando de Alencar was sentenced. Judge Murilo Mendes revoked Alencar’s license, and sentenced him to three years of community service.
Flight 1907, en route from Manaus to Rio, disappeared from radar over Mato Grosso when it collided in mid-air with an Embraer Legacy 600 business jet piloted by the two pilots who were sentenced earlier this week. The Legacy jet landed safely at Cachimbo Airport but 148 passengers and 6 crew members died in the Boeing that crashed into the Amazon.
