    Southwest Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Flaps Problem

    Southwest Airlines flight WN-530 made an emergency landing in Kansas City, Missouri, on May 2nd.

    The Boeing 737-700 plane flying from Houston, Texas, was on final approach to Kansas City when the crew reported a flaps problem and went around to work related checklists.

    The plane subsequently landed safely. All 58 people aboard remained unharmed.

    Istanbul-Bound Air Canada Flight Makes Unscheduled Landing at Heathrow

    Air CanadaAir Canada flight AC 810, from Toronto to Ataturk International Airport in Istanbul, Turkey, made an unscheduled landing at London Heathrow Airport, at 5:38 a.m. local time on August 23.

    According to the Air Canada spokesperson Isabelle Arthur, the plane was diverted as a precaution after the crew reported an ‘oil indication’. However, she did not provide details.

    Emergency services were put on alert as the plane safely touched the runway at London Heathrow. All passengers and crew members remained unhurt.

    The passengers were booked on other flights while the plane was temporarily grounded for inspection.

    Where: Antwerp
    When: July 20 2011
    Why: On takeoff out of Antwerp the flight developed complications.

    The crew made an emergency landing, due to a cargo fire alarm, and the flight
    was cancelled.

    Emergency Landing in China

    What: Qatar Airway flight QR821 en route from Osaka, Japan to Doha, Qatar
    Where: emergency landing at an airport in northwest China’s Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region at the Kashi City Airport.
    When: Thursday 6:30 am–landing at 7:22
    Who: 20 crew members and 174 passengers from 22 countries and regions including Japan, the Republic of Korea, the United States and Qatar.
    Why: When the flight encountered mechanical problems and descended 11,000 meters to 2,000 meters in 5 min, the crew prepped for an emergency landing.,The cause is under investigation

    United Airlines Emergency Landing in Indianapolis

    What: United Airlines Boeing 757-200 en route from Baltimore MD to Chicago O’Hare,IL
    Where: Runway 23 Right at Indianapolis International Airport
    When: May 15, 7:15 am
    Who: 140 people aboard.
    Why: While en route to Chicago, the 757 cockpit filled with smoke and requested an emergency landing at Indianapolis.

    As you can see in the silent digital recording above, the plane lands safely, although we do not see the passengers debarking.

    Finnair Flight Returns to Helsinki due to Technical Problem

    Finnair flight AY-69 had to return and make an emergency landing in Helsinki, Finland, on September 24th.

    The Airbus A350-900 plane took off for Hong Kong, China, but had to turn back due to a technical issue.

    The plane landed at higher than normal speed. All two hundred and sixty-nine people aboard remained unharmed.
