    Cessna Crash in Beagle Bay

    What: Broome Aviation Cessna 208B Grand Caravan en route from Broome to Koolan Island Australia
    Where: Beagle Bay Airport
    When: Jan 14 2010
    Who: pilot
    Why: While en route, the pilot received an indication of low pressure and received permission to divert to Beagle Bay. On approach, the pilot told authorities that the engine on his Cessna Caravan cut out at 9,500 ft.. He then undershot the runway. The plane flipped and the engine separated.

    The pilot is being treated for head injuries.

    Southwest Airlines Diverts due to Flaps Flops

    On July 23, 2013, a Southwest Airlines Boeing 737-300 en route from Kansas City to Indianapolis developed a problem with the flaps.

    Pilots diverted back to Kansas City and made an emergency landing. (See flight path below)

    None of the 54 aboard suffered injury.

    The flight eventually took off and arrived in Indianapolis at 1 a.m. with no indication if this was the same or a different jet.

    Hawaiian Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Smoke in Cockpit

    Hawaiian Airlines flight HA-64 made an emergency landing in Hilo, Hawaii, on August 11th.

    The plane heading from Lihue, Hawaii, to Los Angeles, California, was diverted after the crew noticed smoke in the cockpit.

    The plane landed safely. There were two hundred and seventy-six people aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    What: Cessna T210N
    Where: 3 miles south of Dana Point, California
    When: November 19, 2005
    Who: Pilot and 3 passengers
    Why: The airplane impacted the ocean following a departure from controlled cruise flight, decelerating from 120 to 60 knots spiraling down corkscrew manner before impact. No pre-accident anomalies were noted with any systems examined, and no distress calls or communications preceded or followed the upset. The pilot had moderate to severe coronary artery disease with evidence of at least one prior small heart attack. The combination of coronary artery disease and LVH would have substantially increased the risk for sudden cardiac death in this pilot. Four died in the crash.

    Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Public Security of Laos Dies in Plane Crash

    Laos plane crashA plane carrying the Deputy Prime Minister of Laos, along with several other high profile officials, crashed in Pek district, Xieng Khouang province, around 500 kilometres away from the capital city Vientiane.

    The accident happened on the morning of May 17 when the plane was taking 20 people to Xieng Khouang to attend a military ceremony being held to celebrate 55th anniversary of one of the military divisions of Laos.

    According to the Thai Defense Ministry’s permanent secretary, Nipat Thonglek, General Douangchay Phichit, who is the Deputy PM, and Thongbane Sengaphone the minister of public security, have been confirmed dead in the accident. Other deceased include the Governor of Vientaine, Sukan Mahalad and two other high ranked officials.

    The Ukrainian-made Antonov AN-74TK-300 aircraft was operated by the National Air force and was used for the movement of VIPs in Laos.

    The cause of crash is not known at the moment.

    Delta Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky Airport

    Delta Airlines flight DL-803 had to return and make an emergency landing at Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport, Kentucky, on March 23rd.

    The plane took off for Orlando, Florida, but had to return shortly afterwards due to reports of a smoky odor in the cabin.

    The plane landed back safely. All 148 passengers aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.
