What: Singapore Airlines Boeing 777-312ER en route from Manchester to München-Franz Josef Strauss Airport, Germany
Where: Germany

Who: 158 passengers
Why: Although there were problems presented to ATC in advance, on landing in Munich, the Singapore Airlines Boeing suffered a runway excursion, when it veered right on landing. Landing occurred with reduced visibility and low cloud cover. All three gear were off the runway when the plane stopped. Passengers evacuated with no injuries via stairs brought to the jet.

The three year old jet has General Electric GE90 engines and appears to have suffered no obvious damage.

Ukranian Cargo Plane Crashes in Egypt

What: Ukrainian Russian-made Antonov An-12 cargo plane [registration# S9-SVN] crashed during takeoff en route from Entebbe, Uganda to the Ukraine, on it’s way to Nikolaev, an avia-repair plant
Where: Luxor, Egypt
When: Friday Feb. 20, 2009
Who: – Five crew members died
Why: On liftoff, the plane slammed to the tarmac, then slid down and off the runway and hundreds of feet from the runway burst into flames. The plane had a full tank.

The crew included one person from Russia, two from Belarus and two from the Ukraine. The plane’s black box data recorder were recovered.

Bird Strike over Panama

What: Continental Airlines Boeing 737-900 en route from Panama City (Panama) to Newark,NJ
Where: Panama City
When: November 18, 2011
Who: 176 aboard
Why: After takeoff, while climbing out of Panama City, the Continental flight suffered a bird strike. After ingesting the bird, the left engine surged, and caught on fire. Pilots shut down the engine, and returned to Tocumen Airport where they made a safe landing.

Interjet Airbus Smoke and Emergency Landing in Toluca

What: Interjet Airbus A320-200 en route from Toluca to Acapulco
Where: Toluca
When: Mar 12th 2010
Why: After takeoff, the cabin filled with a burning plastic-smelling smoke. The plane requested to return to Toluca and made a safe landing shortly afterwards. Passengers were provided an alternative flight.

American Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in San Jose

American Airlines flight AA-1019 made an emergency landing in San Jose, California, on June 8th.

The Boeing 737-800 plane took off for Dallas/Fort Worth International Airport, Texas, but had to turn back after the crew failed to fully retract the landing gear.

The plane landed back safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

Orenair Plane makes Emergency Landing in Russia due to Tyre Burst

orenairOrenair flight R2-508/UN-852 had to make an emergency landing at Vnukovo International Airport, Moscow, Russia, on October 26.

The Boeing 777-200, flying from Sharm el-Sheikh, Egypt, had to be landed in emergency after one of its main tyres burst.

The plane landed safely.

Everyone aboard remained unhurt.
