    Nagaland Governor’s Helicopter Lands in Emergency Due to Bad Weather

    A Pawan Hans helicopter carrying Nagaland’s Governor Padmanabha Balakrishna Acharya made an emergency landing at a helipad in the premises of Bairagi Para Junior Basic School in Kalyanpur in western Tripura, India, in the afternoon of August 19.

    According to the authorities, the helicopter with Governor Acharya and his wife Kavita aboard took off from Dimapur, made a stop at Imphal airport for refueling and was scheduled to land at Agartala airport. However, due to extremely bad weather, the pilot could not land at Agartala and instead landed about 40 km north in Kalyanpur.

    Acharya and his wife had a good time with the students and also tasted the mid-day meal served by the school, according to Banamali Sinha, principal secretary in-charge of the Raj Bhavan secretariat. The police then escorted them to Dak Bunglow.

    The helicopter was able to fly back to Agartala airport around 4:30 p.m., after getting clearance from the Air Traffic Controller.

    UTAir Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Moscow

    UTairUTAir flight UT-559 had to make an emergency landing in Moscow, Russia, on August 6th.

    The plane took off for Makhachkala, Russia, but had to turn back after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unhurt.

    UTAir Flight Overruns Runway in Sochi, Russia; 18 Injured

    UTAir flight UT-579 overran the end of the runway on landing in Sochi, Russia, on September 1st.

    The incident happened when the Boeing 737-800 plane was coming from Moscow, Russia.

    The plane came to stop in a river bed off the runway and its left engine caught fire.

    There were one hundred and seventy people aboard at the time; eighteen of them were injured.

    An airport worker died after having a heart attack at the scene of the incident.

    Aeroflot Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Landing Gear Problem

    Aeroflot flight SU-1711 made an emergency landing in Khabarovsk, Russia, on May 22nd.

    The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for Moscow, Russia, but had to turn back due to an issue with the landing gear.

    The plane landed safely after burning off fuel.

    Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Who: 120 passengers
    Why: A false depressurization alarm (also reported as an indication of an open door) forced an emergency landing. Passengers were accommodated at a hotel until the replacement Tupolev 154 arrived.

    Passengers Escaped Unharmed after Their Helicopter Crashed in Bedfordshire

    A helicopter crashed on a farm land near Aspley Guise, Bedfordshire, England, on February 25.

    The helicopter, carrying the pilot and 2 female passengers, was en-route to Sussex when its engine malfunctioned. The pilot then decided to make an emergency landing on farm land however, the aircraft flipped over during landing.

    According to Inspector Tracey Day, “I was very pleased when I got there to find three people with cuts and bruises, but everyone had walked away relatively unscathed.”
