    LOT Polish Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Warsaw

    LOT Polish Airlines flight LO-3924 made an emergency landing in Warsaw, Poland, on January 10th.

    The plane was flying from Krakow, Poland, when the crew reported an issue with the nose gear extension.

    The nose gear collapsed as the plane touched down in Warsaw.

    All fifty-nine passengers and four crew members remained unharmed.

    5 Crew Members Fell Sick; US Airways Flight Made Emergency Landing in Ireland

    US AirwaysUS Airways Flight 715 en route from Venice, Italy to Philadelphia had to be diverted to Dublin Airport, Ireland for making an emergency landing on May 19 because five of its crew members and one passenger fell sick midair.

    The Airbus A330-200 had 238 passengers and 12 crew members on board at the time of the incident.

    This was the second incident in two weeks when a US Airways flight has been forced to make an emergency landing after its crew members fell sick. Earlier, another US Airways flight on the same route had to be diverted to the same airport in Ireland nine days ago on May 10.

    The causes of sickness is not yet known. The sickness symptoms included nausea, watery eyes and dizziness, as per health officials in Ireland.

    Southwest Flight Diverted to LAX after Woman Gives Birth Midair

    southwest_airlines_logoSouthwest airlines flight 623 had to make an emergency landing in Los Angeles, California, on the morning of December 9.

    The flight, heading from San Francisco to Phoenix, was diverted to Los Angeles International Airport after a passenger went into labor and gave birth midair.

    The plane landed safely and the mother and her new born were shifted to a hospital. According to spokesperson of Los Angeles Fire Department Erik Scott, “LAFD praises an ER RN that assisted the mother in giving birth prior to our arrival.”

    The flight was able to resume the journey with a 2.5 hours delay.

    JetBlue Flight Diverted to Norfolk due to Unknown Odor in the Cabin

    JetBlueJetBlue flight 1534 had to divert and make and emergency landing at Norfolk International Airport, Virginia, at around 4:30 p.m. on January 12.

    The Embraer aircraft, en-route from Tampa, Florida to Hartford, Connecticut, was diverted after the crew reported a strange odor in the cabin.

    The plane landed uneventfully. All 93 people aboard remained safe.

    Another aircraft was arranged which later took the passengers to Hartford.

    Drunken Passenger Goes to Jail

    Back in mid July, we wrote about air passenger Dean Lyons trying to open the door of the Boeing 767-300 he was passenger in, en route to Cuba. Instead, the plane dropped him off in Bermuda in the guardianship of a police escort, while –due to flight crew flying time restrictions–the rest of the passengers on the flight had to wait till the next day to fly on to their destination, Varadero Cuba. On October 6, Lyons was jailed for that offense. That, and for punching a man in a Basingstoke pub.

    Atlanta-Bound Delta Jet Returns to GSP

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight 5437 was forced to return and make an emergency landing at Greenville-Spartanburg International Airport in Greer, South Carolina, on January 8.

    Airport spokesperson Rosylin Weston said the plane departed for Atlanta, Georgia, at 10:17 a.m. but had to turn back due to a mechanical problem.

    The plane landed uneventfully at 10:24 a.m. All 46 passengers aboard remained unharmed.
