    Thomson Airlines Plane Diverts to England after Smoke in Cabin

    Thomson Airlines flight BY-2616 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Gatwick Airport, England, on July 8th.

    The Boeing 757-200 flying from Manchester, England, to Girona, Spain, had to divert due to smoke in its cabin.

    Air New Zealand Plane Returns to New Zealand due to Problem with Air Conditioning

    ANZ Air New Zealand flight NZ-992 had to return and make an emergency landing at Auckland Airport, Auckland, New Zealand, on May 7th.

    The Airbus A320-200 was mid-air when it had to enter a hold due to problem with its air conditioning.

    Severstal Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Nose Gear Issue

    Severstal flight D2-131 made an emergency landing in Simferopol, Ukraine, on September 10th.

    The plane flying from Cherepovets, Russia, was on approach to Simferopol when the crew noticed a nose gear issue and aborted the approach.

    The plane subsequently landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    Alaska Airlines Plane Diverts to Buffalo due to Smoking Credit-Card Reader

    Alaska AirlinesAlaska Airlines flight 17 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Buffalo Niagara International Airport, New York, on October 12,

    The plane, en-route from Newark, New Jersey to Seattle, Washington, was diverted after the crew reported smoke coming out of a credit card reader. According to airline spokesperson Halley Knigge, apparently the smoke was caused due to a melting battery. “The flight crew used a fire extinguisher to stop the device from smoking while the captain made flight emergency arrangements,” she said.

    The plane landed safely. There were 181 passengers and 6 crew members aboard at the time; none of them were harmed.
