    Emirates Emergency Landing in Kochi



    What: Emirates Airlines Airbus A330-200 en route from Dubai to Kochi
    Where: Kochi
    When: September 14 2012
    Who: 275 aboard
    Why: According to IBN Live, an Emirates flight from Dubai to Kochi developed hydraulic problems and had to make an emergency landing in Kochi.

    ATC said “Precautions were taken.” We assume this to mean that emergency services were on standby, but have no indication if any services were actively engaged.

    The flight made a safe landing.

    US Airways Landing Gear issues over DC

    What: US Airways Airbus A319-100 en route from Boston Washington DC
    Where: DC
    When: Apr 26th 2010
    Why: On approach to Washington, the plane developed hydraulic problems with the landing gear. The pilot entered a holding pattern while the on board crew repaired the problem, after which the flight made a safe landing.

    Aberdeen: Eastern Airways Lands with Faulty Engine Fire/Alarm

    What: Eastern Airways Saab 2000 en route from Bergen to Aberdeen
    Where: Aberdeen
    When: Feb 21st 2010
    Who: 8 passengers and 3 crew
    Why: A quarter hour before approach to Aberdeen, systems detected a fire in the left engine.

    The crew shut the engine down and proceeded to land safely at Aberdeen with emergency crews on standby.

    The shutdown was attributed to a faulty fire alarm.

    SpiceJet Plane Rejects Take Off After Bird Strike

    SpiceJetSpiceJet flight SG-182 rejected take off from Pune, Maharashtra, India, on August 23rd.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane was accelerating to take off for Delhi when a bird hit it, prompting the crew to reject the take off.

    The plane safely returned to the apron. All 183 passengers and 6 crew members remained safe.

    British Airways Flight Returns to Heathrow Airport due to Landing Gear Issue

    British Airways flight BA-65 had to return and make an emergency landing at Heathrow Airport, England, on November 29th.

    The Boeing 747-400 plane took off for Nairobi, Kenya, but had to turn back after the crew failed to retract the landing gear.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Southwest Flight Diverts to Indiana

    A Southwest Airlines Baltimore to Las Vegas flight 441 (Boeing 737-700) diverted to Indiana when an electric odor developed in the galley.

    Pilots made a safe landing in Indiana at 8:45 pm. No fire was found.

    None of the 134 aboard were injured.

    The Southwest 441 flight was rescheduled.

    On March 14, a Southwest flight out of Las Vegas had a faulty cargo fire indication which caused them to return to Las Vegas for an emergency Landing.
