What: American Airlines MD-80 en route from Dallas/Fort Worth to Norfolk Virginia
Where: DFW airport
When: June 13 2011, 6:15 pm
Who: 122 passengers and 5 crew
Why: On takeoff from Dallas/ Fort Worth , Monday’s American Airlines flight struck a flock of (20+) pigeons, damaging the cone and right wing and requiring an emergency landing. The plane had to be taken out of service for repairs, and bird part extractions. Dead birds littered the runway.
Birds can be a problem at the 29 square mile airport. Attached you can view a wildlife management news clip demonstrating a wildlife expert’s noise system used to disrupt the birds.

What: Delta Air Lines en route from Daytona to Atlanta
Where: Orlando
When: May 15, 2011
Why: The Delta flight diverted to Orlando after experiencing engine problems. Passengers were provided alternative flights to Atlanta.
What: Chartered Bombardier Challenger 300 en route from Manila to Caticlan, Aklan
Where: Manila
When: May 19 2010, 12:36 p.m.
Why: The pilot reported engine problems just after takeoff, and requested an emergency landing at Ninoy Aquino International Airport. The flight landed safely, with one engine shut down. The flight landed safely with emergency teams on standby.
Mechanics began working on fixing the problem.

The report from Lebanon on the January 2010 crash of ET409 has been rejected by Ethiopia Airlines. It is not surprising that they would reject it as the report blames Ethiopian airlines; specifically they cite the probable cause of the crash as being “the flight crew’s mismanagement” and “a failure in basic piloting skills,” and that the pilot flew 188 hours in 51 days with minimum rest.
The crew ate during their Beirut stop, and complained they could not sleep afterwards.
Ethiopian Airlines claims the government withheld information, and claim the plane exploded.
No sign of fire or explosion were detected in the wreckage
Air Canada flight 408 had to make an unscheduled landing at CFB Trenton in Ontario, Canada, on February 15.
The A-320, carrying 119 passengers and 5 crew members, was heading from Toronto to Montreal when the crew reported an overheated oven in the Galley.
The plane was then diverted to CFB Trenton where it landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.
The airline arranged an alternate aircraft for the passengers.
Ethiopian Airlines flight ET-638 had to return and make an emergency landing in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, on August 7th.
The Boeing 787-800 plane took off for Singapore but had to turn back due to an engine failure.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
