Why: The pilot, Charles Pulliam took off from Davis Island en route to Opa Locka AIrport, but began losing oil and had to make an emergency landing. He struck a power line but managed to land on the shoulder of I-75 Northbound. His right wing was cut off halfway after striking a road sign, but neither Pulliam nor his two passengers were injured.

Pilot Texts Family Before Fatal Crash in Missouri
A Piper PA-32 plane crashed near Cuba Municipal airport in Missouri, on June 14.
The plane crashed in a wooded area when the pilot Jeffrey B. Hansen of St. Charles was en-route to Creve Coeur Airport, St. Louis, with his dog. Both of them were killed in the crash.
According to Missouri authorities, the pilot texted his family, about 5 minutes before crash, that his plane had hit turbulence.
The FAA is investigating.
Thai Airways Plane Diverts to Indonesia
Thai Airways flight TG-473 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Denpasar, Indonesia, on October 10th.The Boeing 787-800 plane heading from Bangkok, Thailand, to Brisbane, Australia, was diverted after the crew received indication of oil leakage from the right hand engine.
The plane landed uneventfully. All 264 people aboard remained safe.
Small Planes Collide, 5 Fatalities, Mile of Debris

What: Bourgault Industries Piper PA-28 Cherokee
What: Lake LA-4-200 Buccaneer amphibious plane
Where: Brieux, Saskatchewan
When: May 12, 2012
Who: 5 fatalities
Why: Two men and a boy were aboard the Piper PA-28 en route from Calgary to St. Brieux to pick up plane parts; and a woman and man were aboard the amphibious plane flying from Regina to La Ronge.The planes made some kind of impact in the air, after which both planes impacted the ground. The Buccaneer plane was found in shallow water. Piper debris was found around Brieux.
The Joint Rescue Co-ordination Centre in Trenton, Ont said that indications are that the planes made contact at low altitude and it appears that the amphibious plane struck the Piper.
The planes were found less than a kilometre apart with a debris field of more than a mile.
Bourgault Industries is a airline seeding company. The RCMP asked Jerry Bourgault to assist, and he flew his Piper Super Cub to find the debris field.

Why: After a hard landing in dense fog, the plane skidded off the runway, collapsing the right main gear, and flipped. As it rolled over, the right wing separated, and the ensuing fire was quickly contained by rescue services standing by. Passengers inside were hanging upside down, suspended by their seatbelts, but had to find a way to evacuate quickly, before the plane had a chance to explode. A fire occurred from a fuel leak in the remaining wing, but it was controlled.

The metar at the time of the landing was:

Wind from 020 degrees at 2 m/sec; visibility 300m; on runway 12, touchdown zone visual range is 550m in fog; vertical visibility 100 m; pressure: 1023 hPa; temperature: 0°C.Six crew members and nineteen passengers were hospitalized, but there were no fatalities reported. Nine children were aboard. The plane was evacuated.
Because of the incident, the airport (runway) was temporarily closed, and Osh-Bishkek flights are delayed.
Of the 25 reported injured and hospitalized, these have been identified: Rustamov A. b. 1977, Ismatova A. b. 1993, Turgunaliev Charles b.1960; and two injured, Mamatov A., born 1992, and Suyunbaeva A. 2011g.r. who are in a children’s hospital in Osh. The most seriously injured is a 19 year old girl.
Kyrgyzstan Airlines is on the EU banned list.
Private Cessna Airplane Crashes near Jacksonville
A private Cessna airplane crashed on Friday, March 21 before noon, behind Lowes in Palatka, Florida.
The incident happened in Putnam County in between Gainesville and Jacksonville. Florida Highway Patrol is investigating the possible cause of the crash.
The pilot, Richard Carrara, 73 and a passenger, Malcolm Clevenstine,, 71 were critically injured. They were taken to the nearby hospital. Malcolm Clevenstine, 71, died Friday at Shands Gainesville Hospital.

Why: Boeing is performing flight tests with Rolls-Royce and with General Electric engines.During the test flight, the pilots made an emergency landing. This was sue to smoke in the cabin attributed to electrical problems in the aft electronics bay; and this disabled the primary flight displays in the cockpit.
The crew disembarked via slides on to the runway with one injury.
