    United Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport

    United airlinesUnited Airlines Flight 38 made an emergency landing at Cleveland Hopkins International Airport, Ohio, on April 28th.

    The plane took off from Newark Liberty International Airport in New Jersey and was heading to Omaha, Nebraska, when it developed an engine problem, prompting the crew to declare an emergency.

    The plane landed safely. There were 114 passengers and 5 crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unhurt.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Mesa Police Department Helicopter Crash Lands in Gilbert

    helicopterA Mesa Police Department helicopter had to make a hard landing in a field near Stapley Drive & Baseline Road in Gilbert, Arizona.

    The incident happened at about 1 a.m. on June 8, when the chopper carrying two police pilots lost engine power and crashed.

    According to Mesa Police Department Sgt. Tony Landato, “They had 10 to 15 seconds from engine failure to impact…. The preliminary information I have is that the pilot did a remarkable job avoiding homes by putting the helicopter down in a field… I’ve been told, luckily, there are no serious injuries.”

    During the impact, the tail of helicopter broke off.

    Avianca Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Chile

    Avianca flight LR-624 had to return and make an emergency landing in Santiago, Chile, on August 10th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane took off for Lima, Peru, but had to turn back after an engine started emitting streaks of flames and loud bangs.

    The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Smartwings Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Prague

    Smartwings flight QS-3179 made an emergency landing in Prague, Czech Republic, on April 9th.

    The Boeing 737-800 plane flying from Tel Aviv, Israel, was on approach to Prague when the crew reported they had a park brake set indication.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and seventy passengers aboard remained unharmed.

    What: Japan Airlines Flight JL8878 en route from Shanghai’s Hongqiao airport for Tokyo
    Where: emergency landing at Shanghai
    When: Takeoff 2 p.m. and arrived at 3:14 p.m on March 14
    Who: 208 passengers and 14 crew
    Why: It is reported that the aircraft had hit birds after takeoff. The plane experienced engine problems and began to shake necessitating the emergency landing.

    Emergency Landing at Emerald Airport


    After suffering engine trouble, a Virgin flight for Brisbane returned to Emerald Airport and made an emergency landing.

    No injuries were reported. Emergency services responded to the scene. Passengers were provided overnight accommodations.

    In my experience, this does not happen often to Virgin.
