    Where: Ft Lauderdale
    When: Dec 9 2010
    Why: Shortly after takeoff, the US Airways Boeing had a bird strike, and a fireball came out of one of the engines, and it was “blown out.” The plane returned safely to Ft. Lauderdale and landed. There were no injuries except for the bird.

    ANA Flight Makes Emergency Landing in China

    All Nippon Airways flight NH-924 had to return and make an emergency landing in Guangzhou, China, on November 2nd.

    The Boeing 767-300 plane took off for Tokyo, Japan, but had to turn back after mist appeared in the cockpit and the cabin.

    The plane landed safely. There were one hundred and sixty-three passengers and ten crew members aboard at the time; all of them remained unharmed.

    2 Killed After Small Plane Crashed in Punjab, Pakistan

    A two-seater trainer plane crashed in Punjab, Pakistan, on February 24th.

    The plane, belonging to Shaheen Air, went down shortly after taking off from a flight training school in Faisalabad, Punjab.

    There were 2 people aboard at the time, including the instructor and trainee pilot. Both of them were killed in the crash.

    The accident is being investigated.

    Delta Airlines Plane Returns to Minnesota due to Burning Odor

    250px-Delta_logo.svgDelta Airlines flight DL-2802 returned to Minneapolis–Saint Paul International Airport, Minnesota, on September 25.

    The McDonnell Douglas MD-88, heading towards Tampa, Florida, had to return due to a burning odor in the back of cabin.

    The plane landed uneventfully.

    No injuries were reported.

    Ebola Scare Prompts American Airlines Emergency Landing

    American AirlinesEbola scare prompted an American Airlines flight to make an unscheduled landing at Tulsa International airport, Oklahoma, on October 18.

    The flight was on its way from Hartford, Connecticut to Dallas, Texas, when a passenger became sick midair. The plane was then diverted to Tulsa where fire and HAZMAT response teams were put on alert. According to Bennie E. Herring, Tulsa Fire Department battalion chief, “We had a conversation, we believe, between the pilots and the tower, and somewhere in that conversation the word Ebola was said, or Ebola like symptoms.”

    The plane landed safely. The emergency crews asked the passengers to wait while they ruled out Ebola and determined that the passenger’s illness was due to complications from a previous surgery.

    The flight later resumed its journey.

    Skywest Plane makes Hard Landing in Colorado

    Skywest Airlines flight OO-5869 made a hard landing at Denver International Airport, Colorado, on July 2nd.

    The Canadair CRJ-700 flying from Aspen, Colorado, had just landed when flames appeared from the ground and its left engine.

    The passengers were deplaned rabidly via stairs.

    No injuries were reported.
