    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Jackson County, GA

    A small plane made an emergency landing on Highway 441 in Jackson County, Georgia, on August 15th.

    Authorities said the pilot of the Piper PA-24 plane decided to land on the highway due to an engine failure.

    The plane landed safely. No injuries were reported.

    The plane was en-route to Henry County Airport, Georgia, at the time.

    Emirates Plane Returns to Dubai Due to Hydraulic Failure

    EmiratesEmirates Airlines flight EK-703 had to return and make an emergency landing in Dubai, United Arab Emirates, on May 4th.

    The Airbus A380-800 took off for Mauritius but had to return shortly afterwards after the crew reported a hydraulic failure.

    The plane landed safely. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    Bird-Hit Vistara Airlines Plane Lands Safely in Odisha

    VistaraA Vistara Airlines plane was hit by a bird while descending toward Bhubaneswar in Odisha, India, on May 5th.

    Authorities said the bird struck the nose of the plane that was performing flight UK-709 from New Delhi to Bhubaneswar.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. All 50 passengers and 7 crew members remained unharmed.

    Why: Five miles from its destination in Syracuse, the plane developed an oil pressure problem in one engine indicated by an oil pressure gauge.

    The pilot shut it down and made a safe landing. Passengers disembarked at the gate.

    Hawaiian Airlines: Hilo Emergency Landing

    What: Hawaiian Airlines Boeing 767-300 en route from Los Angeles,CA to Honolulu
    Where: Hilo Hawaii

    Who: 237 passengers
    Why: En route to Hawaii, an engine indicator light indicated a problem with an engine oil filter. After the engine was “idled” down, the plane diverted to Hilo and made a low speed approach, landing safely at 11:30 am.

    Passengers were flown to Oahu on alternate transportation.

    According to Hawaiin Airlines public report, examination of the plane revealed that the indicator was faulty.

    US Airways Express Flight Makes Emergency Landing due to Cracked Windshield

    US AirwaysA US Airways express flight made an emergency landing at Burlington International Airport, Vermont, on March 26.

    The plane was heading from Philadelphia to Montreal when the pilot reported a windshield crack and requested an emergency landing. According to Burlington airport operations foreman Doug Wood, “The crack was reportedly getting larger and working its way down the windshield, so the pilots elected to get the plane on the ground as soon as possible and have it inspected before they did lose the windshield.”

    The plane landed uneventfully and all 50 passengers aboard remained safe.

    The airline said passengers will be transported to Montreal via bus.
