    Crop Duster Plane Crashes in Australia

    A small plane crashed in Kirknie near Townsville, Queensland, Australia, on July 27.

    A young farmer was piloting the crop duster plane when it went down. The pilot sustained minor injuries and was treated on the scene.

    The cause of accident is still under investigation.

    Magnicharters Airlines Jet Crash-Landed at Mexico City Airport

    MagnichartersA Magnicharters airlines jet crash-landed at Mexico City International Airport in Mexico, on November 26.

    The Boeing 737 plane was coming from the Caribbean coast resort of Cancun when its landing gear partially collapsed upon landing.

    There were 139 passengers and 5 crew members aboard at the time; none of them were injured. Authorities said some of the passengers were treated for “nervous crisis.”

    Agricultural Accident-two cropdusters collide


    What: Miles Flying Service AT80 AIR TRACTOR AT-802A
    Where: Paragould Arkansas
    When: May 23, 2012, 11:35 a.m
    Who: 1 severe injury, 1 fatality
    Why: Two agricultural planes, a Beech Grove Grumman G164C and a Miles Flying Service AIR TRACTOR AT-802A collided in midair during an aerial application (crop-dusting) activity. The planes flew from Craighead and Greene county airstrips. One plane was flying S-N, the other was flying E-W. The planes turned into one another at the field’s corner and they impacted ground separated by 300 yards near County Road 322 and Highway 168 in Greene County.

    One person on the Gurmman was fatally injured; one person on the Air tractor had serious injuries. The accident occurred sixteen miles from Paragould arkansas. A medical helicopter evacuated the injured pilot.

    Austrian Training Flight Crashes in Voglhub

    What: Flugring Salzburg Cessna F150L en route from Gmunden to Salzburg.
    Where: Straßwalchen, Salzburg
    When: June 21, 2012
    Who: 2 aboard, 2 fatalities
    Why: After disappearing from radar at 2:30, while on a training flight, a 71 year old flight instructor and 44 year old student pilot were in a fatal crash in Salzburg near Voglhub village. The flight was from Gmunden to Salzburg. After the crash, the plane’s beacon helped rescuers find the wreckage.

    Rescuers attempted to cut the victims out until 4:30 pm. They did not long survive the collision. The area was foamed to prevent fire. The crash site was a field near the Western Railway.

    Where: St. Moritz-Samedan Airport
    When: 12 FEB 2009
    Who: 2 crew members died in the crash, the passenger survived
    Why: On landing, the Falcon touched down with the right wing first, then with right main gear, and drifted left. The nose rammed the snow wall, turned left and broke in two.

    S African Helicopter Crash, 7 lost

    What: South African Police Service MBB-BK 117-B1 Helicopter
    Where: Open field about 4km from Witbank, Mpumalanga, South Africa
    When: 23-JUL-2010
    Who: 7 fatalities
    Why: 5 National Intervention Unit police officers, a pilot and a crew member died in a crash whose details are sketchy. The helicopter was one of two that were en route to assist local police in Witbank where armed thieves had just robbed a local supermarket. One helicopter arrived safely and ended up in a gun battle. The other, according to witnesses, exploded in mid-air and crashed.

    Paramedics from ER24 were dispatched to an open field where the helicopter was already burned beyond recognition.

    A piece of the tail was found 150 meters from the wreckage.
