A helicopter carrying Indian Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh had to return and make an emergency landing at Tezpur IAF airbase in Assam, India, on December 25.
The helicopter was en-route to Kokrajhar when it was forced to return due to a technical problem.
The chopper landed back uneventfully.
Singh resumed his journey in an alternate helicopter after some time.
A Botswana Police Service Eurocopter AS350 was en route on a routine patrol between Gumare and Maun Botswana, and went missing in the Okavango. The flight left at 19:10 and was expected at 20:10.
The captain, copilot and an Airborne Law Enforcement Officer were aboard at the time it disappeared. A search is underway, but it has not yet been located. The families of those who are missing have been notified.
The police enlisted the public and local pilots in the search as well as the Botswana Defence Force, (BDF) and Directorate of Intelligence Services (DIS). Search and rescue teams have been deployed, and there is also a meeting at Maun Airport concerning the disappearance.
Vueling Airlines flight VY-8318 had to return and make an emergency landing in Amsterdam, Netherlands, on September 15th.
The Airbus A320-200 plane took off for Barcelona, Spain, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a bleed air fault.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unarmed.
Eva Air flight BR-797 had to return and make an emergency landing in Kaohsiung, Taiwan, on November 29th.
The Airbus A321-200 plane took off for Guangzhou, China, but had to turn back due to an engine issue.
The plane landed back safely. All one hundred and seventy-nine passengers aboard remained unharmed.
Anda Air flight 5G-2521 had to return and make an emergency landing at Kiev Zhuliany International Airport, Ukraine, on May 30th.
The plane took off for Antalya, Turkey, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a cabin pressurization problem.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

Why: After the smoke indicator lights indicated the possibility of smoke, and smoke in the cabin was confirmed by fire crews, the flight landed in Tampa and passengers debarked via emergency slides (which caused a few minor injuries.) However a Southwest spokesperson denied there was smoke, and claimed that the emergency landing was a precaution. But passengers reported a strong smell of smoke, and that the fire alarm had gone off in the lavatory.
