    Jet Blue Nose Gear went Belly Up at JFK

    What: Jetblue Embraer ERJ-190 en route from Austin,TX to New York JFK,NY
    Where: JFK,NY runway 22L diverted to runway 31L
    When: May 7th 2009
    Who: 80 people on board
    Why: After a missed approach, the Jet Blue crew announced a “little issue.” THe little issue turned out to be a nose gear steering fault. The plane landed safely under emergency status; no one was injured. And the plane did require a tow after landing.

    This plane–unlike several others at the same time frame at JFK–did NOT incur a bird strike.

    Where: field near Railroad Street and Auto Center Drive near the Corona Municipal Airport
    When: Dec 17, 2009
    Who: pilot
    Why: While en route, the plane developed engine problems.

    The pilot made an emergency landing and flipped over after touchdown. He was able to extricate himself on his own, and was ported to Riverside Community Hospital with a broken nose and other injuries.

    What: Delta/Pinnacle Airlines Canadair CRJ-200 en route from Detroit,MI to Quebec
    Where: Quebec
    When: Dec 10th 2011
    Who: 45 aboard
    Why: On approach to Quebec, the pilots received a flaps fault.

    The pilots aborted the approach. After declaring emergency, the pilots reset the flap system and made a second approach, landing safely.

    Hawaiian Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Honolulu

    Hawaiian Airlines flight HA-177 made an emergency landing in Honolulu, Hawaii, on July 12th.

    The Boeing 717-200 plane was flying from Kona, Hawaii, when the crew noticed engine vibrations and decided to shut down the left engine.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. There were eighty-nine passengers aboard at the time; one of them was injured.

    Multiple Flats on Landing in Costa Rica

    What: TACA airlines Airbus A321-200 en route from El Salvador to San José Costa Rica
    Where: Costa Rica
    When: October 18, 2012
    Who: 146 passengers, 7 crew
    Why: On touchdown, three tires burst on the wet runway, resulting in an emergency landing. The plane skidded and spun to the right and when it came to a stop, it was perpendicular to the end of the runway.

    There were no injuries reported when the plane landed at 4.pm. Burst tires can often occur as the result of a hard or too fast landing.

    Passengers disembarked on to the runway.

    The incident is under investigation.

    Allegiant Air Plane Makes Emergency Landing in North Carolina

    Allegiant Allegiant Air flight G4-848 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Piedmont Triad International Airport, Greensboro, North Carolina, at 11 A.M. on August 3.

    The plane, heading from St. Petersburg, Florida, to Richmond, Virginia, had to be diverted due to an engine issue.

    The plane landed uneventfully and all 150 people aboard remained safe.

    Passengers were accommodated in another flight.
