Cham Wings Airlines flight 6Q-421 made an emergency landing in Moscow, Russia, on September 12th.
The Airbus A320-200 plane flying from Damascus, Syria, was descending toward Moscow when the captain became incapacitated, prompting the first officer to declare an emergency.
The plane continued for a safe landing. The captain was taken to a hospital.
Allegiant Air flight 977 had to make an emergency landing at St. Pete-Clearwater International Airport in St. Petersburg, Florida, at 7:53 p.m. on July 3.
The MD-83 aircraft, en-route to Putna Gorda in Florida, from Asheville, North Carolina, had to divert because of bad weather conditions.
According to Allegiant, the pilot had to declare emergency before landing when an “indicator light” indicated a “maintenance issue” in the plane.
The plane, carrying 146 passengers and 6 crew members, landed uneventfully.
The passengers were adjusted in a replacement flight.
The issue is being investigated.
IndiGo flight 6E-452 had to return and make an emergency landing in Bangalore, India, on October 8th.
The Airbus A320-200N plane took off for Ahmedabad, India, but had to turn back after the crew needed to shut down one of the engines due to loss of oil pressure.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
American Airlines flight 1320 returned and made an emergency landing at John F. Kennedy International Airport, New York, on March 17.
The plane, carrying 126 passengers and 7 crew members, departed for St. Thomas, U.S. Virgin Islands, shortly before 9 a.m. Authorities said it was airborne for about 10 minutes before a flock of geese hit it. The pilot then declared an emergency and landed back uneventfully. No one was injured.
The aircraft was taken out of service. The airline arranged an alternate plane for the passengers.
The FAA is investigating.
Air Wisconsin flight ZW-4047/AA-4047 had to return and make an emergency landing at Manchester Airport, Manchester, UK, on July 19th.
The Canadair CRJ-200 en-route to Pennsylvania had to return due to a gear issue.
The plane landed safely.
No injuries were reported.
China Southern Airlines flight CZ-6976 made an emergency landing in Lanzhou, China, on December 1st.
The plane flying from Shanghai to Urumqi, China, was diverted after a passenger’s cell phone started emitting smoke.
The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

Who: PILOT Neil Dunn, 56, and 13 year old passenger
Why: The pilot encountered engine trouble at 10.45am. The bush area (north) that was in their flight plan would have had nowhere to land.
Referring to the electrical wires Dunn had to dodge to make the emergency landing in his paddock, the amazed farmer said, “I don’t know how they’re not dead.”
