    Frontier Airlines Flight Makes Emergency Landing in Albuquerque

    Frontier Airlines flight F9-195 made an emergency landing in Albuquerque, New Mexico, on June 24th.

    The Airbus A319-100 plane heading from Austin, Texas, to Denver, Colorado, was diverted after smell of smoke was noticed on board.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Turkish Airlines Plane Returns to Istanbul After Bird Strike

    Turkish Airlines flight TK-1911 had to return and make an emergency landing in Istanbul, Turkey, on December 17th.

    The Airbus A321-200 plane took off for Zurich, Switzerland, but had to turn back due to a bird strike.

    The plane landed uneventfully. Everyone aboard remained safe.

    Small Plane Makes Emergency Landing in South Africa

    A small plane made an emergency landing on the Lookout Beach in Plettenberg Bay, South Africa, on March 24th.

    According to the National Sea Rescue Institute (NSRI) spokesperson Craig Lambinon, “On arrival on the scene a Cessna light aircraft was found to have made an emergency landing on the beach and it is believed that the light aircraft may have suffered engine failure while flying over Keurbooms Lagoon while on a pilot training flight from George Airport forcing the pilot to make an emergency landing on the beach.”

    There were two people aboard, including the instructor pilot and trainee pilot; both of them remained unharmed.

    The Civil Aviation Authority is investigating.

    JetBlue Flight Diverts to Philadelphia due to Smoke in Cockpit

    JetBlue flight B6-1097 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, on August 29th.

    The Airbus A320-200 plane heading from Boston, Massachusetts, to Atlanta, Georgia, was diverted after the crew noticed smoke in the cockpit.

    The plane landed safely. All one hundred and three people aboard remained unharmed.

    Finnair Flight Makes Emergency Landing after Lightning Strike

    finnairFinnair flight AY-427 had to return and make an emergency landing in Helsinki, Finland, on November 19th.

    The plane took off for Rovaniemi, Finland, but had to return shortly afterwards due to a lightning strike.

    The plane landed safely. All 166 people aboard remained unharmed.

    The airline arranged a replacement plane for the passengers.

    British Airways Flight Returns to London Heathrow

    British airwaysBritish Airways Flight 103 from London Heathrow airport, United Kingdom, to Calgary, Canada, had to return and make an emergency landing on the evening of August 12.

    Smoke was discovered in the cockpit of the Boeing 767 while it was flying over Liverpool. The pilot requested an emergency landing which was immediately granted.

    According to a British Airways spokesperson Michele Kropt, “It [the plane] landed safely and all passengers disembarked as normal.”

    She confirmed that the engineers were inspecting the aircraft to determine the cause of smoke.
