Why: When the Cessna they were in developed engine trouble, the pilots made an emergency landing in a marsh south of Fort McMurray. No injuries were reported.
Canada’s TSB is investigating.
Korean Air flight KE-753 made an emergency landing in Busan, South Korea, on December 26th.
The plane took off for Nagoya, Japan, but had to turn back due to an engine failure.
The plane landed back safely. All sixty-four people aboard remained unharmed.
What: Westjet Airlines Boeing 737-600 en route from Calgary to Saskatoon (Canada)
Where: Calgary’s runway 34
When: Apr 23rd 2009
Why: The plane was in position on Calgary’s runway 34 when Canadair CRJ-700 flight QK-8339 from Winnipeg,MB to Calgary was cleared to cross runway 34. The error was recognized; takeoff clearance was revoked, the Jazz CRJ cleared the runway; and then the Canadair flight was cleared again for takeoff.

My favorite event is a non-event. The accident that didn’t happen.
So first he (the Boeing) is on runway 34 ready to go, then Air Traffic Control realizes they’re making a mistake because the Jazz about to cross the same runway, so Air Traffic Control stops him, and the other plane (the Jazz) goes ahead and crosses the runway, and they clear him (the Boeing); this time when he is cleared to go again the way is actually clear, and the Westjet Boeing manages to take off without any more issues.
Except possibly a bottle of Tums for the pilot and crew; and glasses and a caffeine adjustment for Air Traffic Control.
I can’t help but picture the scene in that 1981 movie Modern Problems (that no one but me saw) where two air traffic controllers go over the edge; one believing he’s moving a model plane around with his mind, and the other actually doing it.

Brussels Airlines flight SN-201 returned to Brussels, Belgium, on January 20th.
The Airbus A330-300 plane took off for Dakar, Senegal, but had to turn back due to vibrations in one of the engines.
The plane landed back safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
Singapore Airlines flight SQ-37 had to return and make an emergency landing in Los Angeles, California, on November 3rd.
The Airbus A350-900 plane took off for Singapore but had to turn back due to an issue with engine oil indications.
The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.
El Al flight 29, en route from Tel Aviv, Israel to Ontario, Canada, returned to Ben Gurion Airport for emergency landing on the night of September 6.
The Boeing 767 was diverted after one of its engines failed.
The plane landed uneventfully and all 194 people aboard remained safe. The passengers were transferred to an alternate aircraft which took them to their destination.
“We consider flight safety as the highest value,” said an El Al representative. The airline also said that the incident will be investigated.

Why: On takeoff, the plane had tire damage. Pilots decided to land for repairs, but they turned out to be too extensive for the flight to continue.
