    China Southern Airlines Plane Diverts to China after Engine Shut Down

    China SouthernChina Southern Airlines flight CZ-3688 had to divert and make an emergency landing at Hohhot Baita International Airport, Inner Mongolia, China, on July 4th.

    The Boeing 737-800, en-route from Beijing, to Guiyang, in China, had to divert due to some issue with on of its engines. The crew had to shut the engine down mid-night.

    The plane landed safely.

    No one was injured.

    Wizz Air Airbus Turns Back

    On April 28, 2013, a Wizz Air Airbus A320-232 took off from Warsaw then descended rapidly from about 11000ft.

    Passengers smelled smoke. A passenger named Barbara was quoted (machine translation) “Zachybota?o plane dropped like a machine. Then I felt a burning smell. Other passengers can feel it. After a while we went to the employee. Were informed that there was a failure

    Pilots notified ATC and turned around to return to Chopin Airport. The airport said that Pilots said this was not an emergency landing.

    There were 161 passengers aboard. They disembarked without any problem, and were provided a later Wizz flight to London.

    Thai Airways Plane Rejects Take off in Thailand

    ThaiThai Airways flight TG-206 had to reject taking-off at Phuket International Airport, Thailand, on November 29.

    The Airbus A330-300 en-route to Bangkok, Thailand, was about to take-off when one of its engines emitted a loud bang.

    The plane returned to the apron safely.

    No one was injured.

    Qantas Flight Suffers Bat Strike Near Coffs Harbour Airport

    Qantas flight QF-2179 suffered a bat strike near Coffs Harbour Airport, Australia, on November 24th.

    The plane flying from Port Macquarie, Australia, was on final approach to Coffs Harbour Airport when a bat hit it.

    The plane continued for a safe landing. Everyone aboard remained unharmed.

    United Airlines Plane Makes Emergency Landing in Tokyo

    United Airlines flight UA-198 had to divert and make an emergency landing in Tokyo, Japan, on April 22nd.

    The Boeing 787-900 plane heading from Los Angeles, California, to Shanghai, China, was diverted due to a hydraulic issue.

    The plane landed safely. All two hundred and fifty-nine people aboard remained unharmed.

    When: May 24th 2010
    Why: On approach, after getting a gear indicator message, the flight performed a go-round followed by a safe landing. On the ground the hydraulic leak was discovered.
