    What: Westjet Airlines Boeing 737-700 en route from Vancouver to Los Angeles
    Where: Los Angeles
    When: Jul 24th 2010
    Who: 115 aboard
    Why: After an averted landing, the pilot was positioning to circle for a second approach (revectoring) and the flight crew received a TCAS warning to climb.

    The Cessna 182 was on its same altitude. The Boeing climbed and successfully achieved lateral separation.

    Austral Embraer Returns to Puerto Rico after Issue with Ailerons

    AustralAustral Líneas Aéreas flight AR-2431, operating on behalf of Aerolineas Argentinas, returned to Luis Muñoz Marín International Airport, San Juan, Puerto Rico, USA, on September 28.

    The Embraer ERJ-190, heading towards Aeroparque Jorge Newbery in Buenos Aires, Argentina, had to return due to some issue with its ailerons.

    The plane landed safely.

    No injuries were reported.

    The passengers were accommodated in a replacement plane.

  • Flybe Emergency Landing in at Southhampton

    What: Flybe flight BE887 from Glasgow
    Where: Southampton Airport
    When: Friday Nov 21 shortly at 1845 GMT
    Who: 45 passengers
    Why: One engine lost power. The flight landed safely at Southampton Airport. Rescue crews were on standby.

    What: Turkish Airlines Boeing 777-300 en route from Istanbul to New York
    Where: New York
    When: Jul 14th 2010
    Why: On approach to JFK, the Turkish Airlines Boeing encountered a bird. The flight made a safe landing although it incurred slat damage that will cause a delay in the return flight.

    Air Canada Flight Diverts to Halifax Airport due to Mechanical Issue

    Air Canada flight AC-8788 made an emergency landing at Halifax Stanfield International Airport in Nova Scotia, Canada, on December 3rd.

    The plane heading from Montreal to Saint John, Canada, was diverted after the crew noticed a mechanical issue.

    The plane landed safely. All passengers and crew members remained unharmed.

    Northwest Emergency Landing

    What: Northwest (Delta) Airlines Airbus A320-200 en route from Raleigh Durham NC to Minneapolis,MN
    Where: Raleigh Durham
    When: Aug 9th 2009
    Who: 148 passengers, 5 crew members
    Why: After takeoff, the pilots heard a noise (bird strike) before they lost an engine. They dumped fuel and returned to the airport where they landed safely with no injuries.

    We say the flight “lost an engine,” but it was significantly more dramatic than that, with the engine catching fire. Fortunately they landed safely.
